Hmm, might the HD-DVD people just shop at CC out of spite now? If they just shop elsewhere, it doesn't have much impact on the buying habits.

But for people who prefer BB, they might just get the impression the world has gone blu.

It's a mixed lot. But a choice I like a lot.

My local best buy is still doing both. Way more Blu-ray players and they're more spread out, especially in the Magnolia section under the big expensive displays (BDP-S1 still under the 70XBR2,etc while the Panny is under the big Panny plasma). Pioneer Elite setup in the corner (Plasma, AVR, BD player)... in addition to the Sony and Samsung endcaps while Toshiba has only the single endcap.

Irritating part is that they've pulled all the actual Blu-ray, HDDVDs (and PS3 games) and they have plastic cases with paper cutouts. Sucks. Oh well, never buy much there anyways unless it's to price match something from Target or Frys anwyay.

I'll have to go check up on my Best Buy. I know my FYE has lots more shelf space for Blu Ray than it does for HD DVD but I also realize I'm the only person in my town that ever goes in there. (I hope it doesn't close before black friday because FYE black friday deals are great.)

Everyone it seems has a Best Buy story, so here's mine. I went in last night to pick up We Were Soldiers. BD and HD both have the same size sections, but BD has an endcap, a display showing scenes from Spider-Man, and a floating rack between the movie section and the TV's. So I grab a sales guy and basically he says HD is selling 2-1 in movies 2,3-1 in players and HD is cheaper, he then walks off. After he leaves a sales girl comes up and tells me he just gave me a line of BS and takes me back to the Hi-Def area. I ask this guy the same questions and he says BR is selling 3-1, about 4-1 in players 7,8-1 if you count PS3's and the first guy I talked to was a dumb ass. Now without sales figures I don't know who is more truthful, but BR is a lot more visible to someone walking through the store.

Interesting story. I bet she's right.

Our BB here is evenly split all over the store re: BD and HD-DVD. The sales drones don't really bother to help or have any opinion. Long gone are those days....

Our local Target however has quite a bit more shelf space for BluRay, but almost no selection. Just a few movies spread out over a lot of space.

Same deal with CC -- they are exactly like bestbuy, though the tend to have more stand-alone HD-DVD setups.

Tweeter has both, and they have opinions, but i'm not really interested. their technical knowledge on either tends to be pretty weak.

Considering that movies can be had for less online, I'm far less inclined to purchase at any of these stores.
