Default Did HD DVD version of Jesse James get stocked?

It seems like Warner is actually enforcing the 3 week delay this time around, as my Best Buy did not have any copies of the HD-DVD version of AoJJ, not to mention I have not seen it mentioned ANYWHERE on the HD-DVD forums.

Did Warner actually enforce the 3 week delay this time?

Answers, please!

I was at a B&M today, and while they had incorrectly stocked both The Invasion and The Brave One on HD DVD, I saw no evidence of the Assassination of Jesse James... on HD DVD. There were Blu-ray copies however.

I bought both The assessination of Jesse James and The Brave One. Last week the same Best Buy store had released The Invasion HD DVD. However, this week only the Blu-ray versions were available for sale...believe me I checked all possible areas

Ok, guys I wanted an actual answer, not more comments about HD-DVDs demise.

We all know that is whats happening, but considering how gung ho they were about Invasion not being delayed, I thought Id follow up with AoJJ.

Believe me, if copies were out there somewhere, you would hear about it on the forums. Little things excite the HD DVD fanboys too much.

One person on HDD claims to have it, but I get the feeling he's lying considering no other members reported it or have posted pictures. He is also being asked to post a pic. So we shall see. Nevertheless, it appears Warner did "the right thing" this time around.

Of course, my Best Buy only had 3 copies of the bluray version.

Considering this HD DVD follows 6 weeks later instead of the normal 3, I'd say this didn't get accidently stocked. But does it really matter?

No, it doesnt matter at all, but considering how happy they were about Invasion being released early, Id like to see this as being a return to reality for them.

If you get me

The delay is being used to ensure that production can handle demands for Blu-ray, so the HD DVDs are supposively being pressed and shipped to retailers at a later date (3 weeks) than the Blu-ray. I'm sure, however, that some titles were being pressed (or scheduled to be pressed) before the announcement. So, instead of holding those titles in a warehouse (costs money), they sent them to retailers with a note not to sell them until X date. Well, that never works, which is why you see those titles on the shelves.

Long post to say that Jesse James probably hasn't been shipped to retailers yet, so no one can break the date.

Once they are sent to the retailers, it also costs them (retailers) money to store the items. Hopefully, most of the upcoming releases will be shipped (HD DVD) three weeks after the Blu-ray version is shipped.

What happened with invasion was that retailers already had in stock both formats before the announcement so when they got the DVD and Blu-ray release date, they saw that they may as well sell the HD DVD version at the same time.

But now it looks like Warner will delay giving the copies to retailers, though i doubt it will last 3 weeks as they have to have them in stock before they sell them, so its easy to break the 3 week delay still.

Didn't see it for HD DVD at BB or CC.

BB in my area had several of it on blu-ray (probably more than 10) but CC only had 1 copy of it (that I saw anyway).

Would piss me off if the HD-DVD got stocked, seeing as how so few copies of the Blu-ray got stocked around here.

Merrick97, I made a quick stop in another Best Buy that is right on my way home. Once again, there are NO HD DVD versions of The Brave One, or of The Assessination of Jesse James.

Correct. The only way to stop The Invasion HD DVD being put out with the Blu-ray version was not to let retailers have it.

I wouldn't be surprised if AoJJ on HD DVD was already pressed and ready to go, but Warner have now learned to never trust a retailer with a street date instruction. If Warner want the 3-week delay to count for anything then Warner have to be in full control of when the HD DVD product is shipped into the retail chain.

^^^^That pretty much explains it all. The movies that were in production before the announcment and therefore are ready to sell NOW. Remember Warner didnt plan to make a three week delay to boost sales of the blu ray format, it is simply eaiser for them to focus on the Blu Ray format (the format they have chosen for the future) and then get the HD-DVD format ready. They decided three weeks was enough time and any movies starting production after the Warner announcement will follow these terms.
