400 DVD's and 558 Blu-Rays. There are only a handful of DVD's that I have actually upgraded. Usually I don't unless I can get them for dirt cheap or if they are ones that I really want to upgrade (Bond, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars).

Heck, I still buy DVD's as I am trying to find as many Superbit ones as I can, as well as the DTS version of Jurassic Park.

Default Personal combo packs and obsession

I just discovered this idea a couple weeks ago, here on the boards. If I owned a Special Edition DVD and the Blu came out without extras, I'd have them both on the shelf. But now I've bought some 2-disc Blu replacement cases and put the DVD in there to make my own combo pack. (Storing the DVD case and art to sell when/if they put out a full-featured Blu, of course!)

Ha. Good one.

I'm getting close but I have way too many DVD's and hate getting rid of anything. Once I decide to do that, I'll probably be well over 50%. Just don't want to get rid of all my beloved movies. My movies are like gold to me.

Not even close, and no intention on trying to replace every DVD I own with a blu-ray.

Also I have a trade-n-save game store around town that sell all their blus at $8.50 each. If you keep a weather eye out you can easily hit that price range. Also blockbuster OCCASIONALLY (not counting the amazing 5 for $20 deal lately) has a good selection of $6.99 - $9.99 blus

now remember that my AVERAGE is $8-$9.... I hit quite a bit at pawn shops for $5-$8 depending on which one and how many I buy but I also buy a decent chunk at $9.99 and a few at $12.99 ish so it averages out to $8 ... Also this can take some patience, I can't get all new releases for that price and sometimes have to wait up to a year to find that particular title in that price range. however the way sales have been going and prices being driven down faster and faster as the years go by I'm finding it easier to meet that price point.
My pawn shops have like 10 to 15. I hate this town. Haha. People keep all their stuff here I guess. I'm probably just going to keep a close eye on this site to do my hunting.

According to my DVDAF collection....

Blu-Ray: 1,386
DVD: 1,368
Total: 2,754

So 50.33% Blu-Ray. Both are missing stuff though. Actual Blu-Ray count is 1,403 but not sure about DVD since I never kept a spreadsheet for that. Still think Blu-Ray would be ahead of DVD though. Only reason DVD is still close is TV shows

Eventually I will be replacing every DVD with Bluray. Thats What I want

Now the below figures includes movies I own only. It doesn't include Anime series I have, or TV shows or even preordered movies.
It also doesn't contain duplicates.

Bluray: 1445
DVDs: 984

I never owned a lot of DVD's to begin with but I do plan on upgrading several of them. The majority of the DVD's I own are box sets from TV Shows or Mini Series so upgraded is not real feasible right now even if thy do happen to re-release them on Blu-ray .

With only one HD DVD left in my collection I decided to put the player in storage. Since I can watch the remainder DVDs on the PS3 I have absolutely no use for it. I had it sitting underneath the PS3, not the smartest thing to do but I needed the space. The heat from the PS3 over the past year and a half literally fused the foam feet of the PS3 to the HD DVD player. It was like the HD DVD player was holding on for dear life.

637 DVDs
vs.
385 Blu-rays

I'm far from the 50%...
But many of my DVDs doesn't exist yet on Blu-rays, so I'm not totally to blame!

103 of my currents DVD are available (or will be soon available) on Blu-Ray.
I'm doing my very best to switch them all!!!

Most of my DVDs are anime and the majority of them are not going to be updated. I never really collected movies/TV series before so I'm glad I didn't venture into that direction when I was collecting DVDs.

I have about 238 DVDs, and 249 Blus. Nice little collection I guess. It looks big in my bedroom, but compared to some of your collections, not a chance...funny though, because of my young age, I didn't really start collecting DVDs until around 2007 or so. So I've done pretty damn good.
