It doesn't concern me directly because my only concern is PQ/AQ of the feature film. I rarely watch "extras" of any kind so PiP is not of great concern to me.

The only bit of remote concern I have for the lack of players is that HD DUD markets it as a point they have over Blu-ray. So, to that point, I wish they would just ship Profile 1.1 and 2.0 players to shut the HD DUD fanboys up.

The STi7200 is available now in sample quantities, in a cost-effective 35 x 35 PBGA package that enables 4-layer PCB routing, and is priced at $30 in high volume.
No wonder at that price...

Actually four SoCs. You're forgetting the NEC EMMA3, and there is another one that is not widely known about yet that will be appearing in yet-to-be-anounced BD players just before the holidays. Oops, five counting the new STM chip...

Now you've got my attention. Can you let slip the manufacturer?

Nice, sounds like the BDA has a "drive by shooting" on HD-DVD planned for the holidays.

Looks like he's going to leave us hanging. Typical insider.
I would think the player(s) would have to be announced soon in order for retailers to get their orders in so that they have them on shelves in time for the holidays.

If that high-end Denon was Profile 2.0-ready I would start saving my pennies right now. I have a large collection of DVDs and I don't think I'm going to replace everything in my collection.

We haven't heard much about Panasonic's holiday player BMP-BD30, so they will probably not make it in time for Oct. 31st, and if so it must be a profile 1.1/2.0 player. But Panasonic uses the Sigma Design SoC, so unless they have changed supplier, that is another yet-to-be-anounced BD player.

I lack the alternative "No, there will be profile 1.1 players for the holidays" in the poll...

Personally, I'm not interested in a 1.1 player, I want a 2.0 player.

Sometimes I think the "insiders" create more uncertainty and doubt than the kids here.

Anyway, at CEDIA the two Denon units did not have ethernet ports.
unless they add them before launch, these two will not be 2.0 capable.

EMMA3 mentioned on a Blu-ray forum?!? Blasphemy! Wash your mouth out with holy water and say 3 Hail Marys! Sinner!

A little birdie told me the STM SoC wasn't really FSP compliant...it's targeted at STB and DVR markets, though, so the "Blu-ray/HD DVD" bullet points are mainly for show. Of course, the same little birdie told me some other things that didn't pan out, so, well...

I guess the cat's out of the bag on the mystery SoC....it's the Hz7220, n'est-ce pas?
