Compared to Hammer Films, Rollin's films are much less plot-driven and more about mood. They also can be rather surreal. If you have a problem with weird things that are never explained, you might want to stay away. Rollin was really just after interesting visuals and a sense of atmosphere.

On the Hammer/Rollin issue, I'll chime in that I passionately hate Hammer films, and really LOVE Rollin's. I think Zen is spot-on with the description: you'd have to be able to appreciate the surreal and ambiguous style to them. I would not recommend a blind-buy if someone isn't accustom to this subgenre in horror.

They do come with Booklets and are numbered. No slipcovers. I only ordered Lips of Blood #4 & Shivers of a Vampire #2 from Deep Discount. I've got Fascination coming from Amazon so I'll probably get it on release day. DD has the films at $18.15 versus $22.49 on Amazon. I missed the Preorder Amazon prices.
Trying to decide if I want the other two. Iron Rose and Nude Vampire. Last edited by Banned User; 01-18-2012 at 08:56 PM. |

I'm tempted to order, but I got the Encore special editions on DVD years ago and a few of them are still unwatched. I did like Fascination and Shiver of the Vampires. The Iron Rose is interesting, but it might be boring to some; the whole movie is basically a woman wandering around a cemetery at night.
Things you are likely to find in a Rollin film: vampires, lesbians, clowns, beaches, old castles |

From Casey Broadwater's review of "The Nude Vampire":
If the phrase "1970s vampire erotica" makes your ears perk up, your fangs shoot out, or other parts of your anatomy stand at attention, you'll most definitely want to check these out. That's the Blu-ray review of the year. ![]() |
