The original ending is the one where the clearly dead guy did NOT show up alive at the end for a forced happy ending, right? It's so dumb when he resurfaces on the DVD version. But after laughing through the whole movie, I can't say I was surprised.

Next time you watch it, look for the HORRENDOUS backdrop when he shows back up. The tacked on ending was shot on a backlot.

For anyone interested, here are some very in depth, insightful (and hilarious) analyses of the Jaws series and how the quality of each entry seems to fall in equal measure for each sequel.

It also features the better scene of the shark dying by being impaled on the bowsprit and not exploding for no reason.

It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Not.A.Chance.
well like the poster below you said it was presented in polarized 3d back in 80s when it hit theatres. so I guess you better get ready to eat that chum

So if they're closing it down, it's going to make way for the Transformers BS then. The tour guide mentioned the new attraction after we went through the King Kong 3D tunnel, but she didn't say anything about Jaws getting closed down. God I hate Michael Bay.

I was at Universal Studios a couple of weeks ago. My daughters got to see the backlot tour (and Jaws) for the very first time. I was telling them how the original shark they had there looked even faker than the movie shark with it's hinged mouth and half-body. I'm glad they got to see it.
Thats because its universal studios florida that is closing JAWS, not Universal Studios Hollywood. lol

Your talking about USH, Captain Jakes at USF is nothing like the jaws on the backlot tour at USH. Captain Jakes Amity Boat tours, blows the USH studio tour version out of the water.
Ive worked both Captain Jakes at USF and the studio tour at USH and it wouldnt cause me to even blink if they were to shut down the JAWS stop on the studio tour, the closing of Captain Jakes Amity Boat tours though has had me very upset, great memories and friends were made from my time there.
oh Bates motel was torn down years ago at universal studios florida lol.

I thought I remembered seeing the shark get impaled at the end before. When I watched the DVD the other day, I was baffled by the bizarre explosion at the end. But man did I laugh.

Yummy!

But I'm sure I remember red and blue glasses. It was extremely cheap and shitty 3-D as I recall.

So you're saying that no conversion would be necessary? It would just play on new 3-D TVs as it stands? And the quality would be as good as modern 3-D?

Chum is a type of dog food, you know. And not half-bad if topped with a pastry lid.

Edit: But anyway - I win - because they wouldn't convert it. And thus I need eat no chum!

Hey,

I saw both Jaws and Jaws 3D in theaters on the original release.

I was 6 when I saw Jaws and it kind of messed me up.

So,... I can't wait to get both these. I recently saw Jaws 3 and it's stunningly bad like amazing horrible. However, some of the girls are cute and it's that old type of 3D that tries to have stuff right in front of your nose which is missing in a lot of todays 3D Blus.

I would get all 4, as you can see by my collection I already buy all the Jaws-Wannabies.

-Brian

edit- Chum may be a dog food but it's always been the term for shark bait which is made of ground up fish. I don't believe conversion would be necessary. I saw Jaws 3D in theaters (freakin 30 or some odd years ago.) There are already 2 video streams already and that's all you would need so it should be a format change at the most.

In the 80's, all the 3D movies that surged were polerized 3D, not the red/blue cheap glasses. Polerized is a MAJOR step above the red/blue, but not as sharp and clear as today's REAL-3D.

other movies with the same polerized 3D were:

Friday the 13th 3D
Amityville 3D
Metal Storm
Parasite
Comin' At Ya' (a western)
& more that I can't remember.

Day 1 for me

Lucas would replace it with that horrendous CGI shark used in Soul Surfer.

Wish this release would drop sooner, but, I'm just glad its being released.

No, sir. It was most definitely polarized. I even had a chance to catch it again at a 3D festival about ten years ago, and my glasses were tinted, not red and blue.

And while the movie itself is extremely cheap and shitty, the 3D effect was stunning.

You don't even need to put "imo." Jaws being a must own is not an opinion, but a fact.

based on...

I mean, we ALL hope this info is true, but the ORIGINAL post has a link that doesn't look AT ALL to be "Credible" looking --- in fact, it looks more Fan Made or like a Fan Site, more than anything.

But that's where this information comes from!! That's why only JAWS 3-D is mentioned.
