(If I remember right, the BR release way delayed while Arrow worked long hours to make it right for the fans)
Yeah, I'm not sure how much can be improved but AB's release does have 7.1 audio to Arrow's 5.1 (though Arrow's is DTS-MA HD while AB's is only Dolby TrueHD). So that might indicate the transfer might be different?

Thanks OP. No matter how I try to stay away I always find something to buy when I'm here LOL. I've been waiting for this for quite some time. A few months will not matter as its been yrs since its initial release.

i thought the extended version of BRII was called Battle Royale 2: Revenge. i thought Requiem was the original cut? which sucks... i want both cuts. i have the UK limited set, but I'll buy this set too. Been a favorite of mine for 10 years or so.

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in and say I can't wait for this release. By the time I found Arrow, I missed my chance to get the region free limited BR release. Having just upgraded to BR around a year ago, I try to stick with buying only BR discs, and I couldn't find this at the price I wanted to get it. Hopefully Anchor Bay will make me happy I waited.

This is my first post on this forum btw, I read through the forums alot though, and alot of posts here have helped me along with the discovery of great films. So, thanks for that!

they are the same movie. imdb calls the extended one the director's cut. it's over 20 minutes longer, but still the same movie.
i guess it's the same comparison as to how the other version of BR is the "special version"; it is not a director's cut, as AB seems to call it. they shot the new scenes a year after it's release.

check ebay. a lot of people will be throwing their used ones up in anticipation for this release. so the laws of supply and demand should drive the price down. the arrow set really is worth it.

Well, you have to wait for reviews of the US BD before you'd expect people to sell off their Arrow BDs.

Fair warning, though, the sequel is universally reviled...and justifiably so. I love the first one, like many but to blind buy this with the sequel is riskier than usual blind buys.

I'll keep my Arrow set. The packaging will be hard to beat and it isn't tainted by the sequel.

Hard to believe this film is 12 years old. I remember watching it on VCD before any DVDs were available.

We don't know it's better at all. Both are lossless, it's not like the movie was mixed in 7.1. AVR's have been turning 5.1 into 7.1 for over five years now, that doesn't mean it's upgrading the audio.

I will check out ebay and see what I find over the next few days.. If the price is right, I'll go ahead with Arrows..mostly because, I know what's what with Arrows release, and it seems might fine. I'm not sure what ABs release will be like.. So, we'll see. Thanks for the advice.

The Arrow LE is a great package, as expected from an arrow release they really outdid themselves!

Yes, there has been some critiscism over the transfer. But in all honesty, it's the best they could have done with what they had to work with. Arrow aren't affraid to delay a release if more restoration is needed as they did recently with The Conformist.

So I'm confident that the Arrow release is genuinely the best they could do under their specific circumstances.

The only thing that some folks in the US were complaining about was the PAL encoded Special Features DVDs, so you might have to watch those on your PC if your set up cant play PAL DVD.

I got some pics in my Home Theatre Gallery if anyone wants to take a look at the whole package.

The statement "it's the best they could have done with what they had to work with" doesn't apply to Arrow in my book anymore since it's been proven many times same movies can look better on blu from other companies like blue underground/Synapse. Though Arrow have gotten better on their latest US movies at least.

I really hate it when Anchor Bay releases movies with either no subtitles or only english subtitles. Sometimes they do put subtitles and sometimes they don't, I would wonder what's up with their quality control. Sure I can read english subtitles, but it I want to watch it with friends who don't speak english, we're doomed.

You have to pay for each and every language option included on the disc, so while I imagine it's frustrating, it makes perfect sense for Anchor Bay to only include English subtitles.

The Complete Collection was in my AMZ gold box so I preordered it. Wonder if it's a digibook...
