That's not why Schindler's List was a bare-bones flipper...Spielberg intentionally wanted the production costs held at a bare minimum so the disc could be sold to schools and other educational institutions as inexpensivel as possible. Also, proceeds of the film go to the Survivors of the Shoah foundation.

I respect that but at the same time, this is one of the most fascinating productions of possibly all time.

From the casting choices, the replica of Auschwitz to the response to the film, there is tonnes of potential extra features that can be respectfully done while still keeping the correct tone and subject matter intact.

I agree completely, but I still respect the choice Spielberg made. The bare-bones flipper was about as non-self-aggrandizing as you can get, for a film he should be incredibly proud of.

From The Digital Bits :

Quote:
First, a number of readers have been asking about Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List in recent days, because there's a Universal 100th anniversary promotional piece that mentions the film on the new Born on the Fourth july Blu-ray. So is the film coming in 2012 for the studio's anniversary? The short answer (confirmed with the studio today) is no. However, the long (and better) answer is that next year is the film's 20th anniversary. So you can expect to see it on Blu-ray sometime probably later in 2013, as a major catalog release.

I'm sad this isn't coming out this year, but hopefully they'll treat it right when (if?) it comes out next year.

I aways thought this would come out in 2013,it's 20th anniversary. As long as the stuff from the dvd are ported over and it has great PQ/AQ,I'll be happy.

I hate that.. they have the Bourne movies with those slips and I've for the 2nd time picked them up thinking they were blu's as well.. That's when I saw the black casing and it went back on the shelf..

That's what I'm saying. He never did stand up to them, except kind of after the fact, by saving his workers. One can argue he should have--all Germans should have.
Just to be technical, to quote Liam Neeson from the film, as Oskar Schindler: "I am a member of the Nazi Party. I'm a munitions manufacturer. I'm a profiteer of slave labor. I am... a criminal." So, while he did not subscribe to the Nazi's philosophy, he technically was a Nazi.

They have to be sensitive with the Collectibles for Schindler's List and not go too crazy. I'm picturing the "Amazon Exclusive" listing:

Schindler's List Ultimate Collector's Gift Set (Universal's 100th Anniversary) (1993)
Liam Neeson (Actor), Ralph Fiennes (Actor) | Rated: R | Format: Blu-ray
Price: $34.99
Includes: Original B&W Theatrical Release and Newly Restored 3D Colorized Version; DVD Version; Ultraviolet Copy. Four All-New Documentaries. Amazon Exclusive Gift Set Includes: 150 Page The Art of Schindler's List book, including 20 Page Replica of the Schindler Workers List; John Williams' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD; Four Yellow Stars of David; "Arbeit Macht Frei" lithograph; Nazi Party Lapel Pin and Comic Con Exclusive 18k Gold Tooth.

Let's be honest, it would have sold out at Comic Con.

Yeah it's a real downer too. I think I read somewhere that Speilberg doesn't do them because it takes away from the film itself. If he hasn't noticed...practically all his films are iconic in some way and many of the viewers have seen each of his film at least 10+ times. so how could it take away from our viewing experience. We know every scene.

Just do the commentary already!

I did the exact same thing a few months ago at Target. I saw the 100th Anniversary slip and thought that maybe they had quietly released a Target Exclusive. I immediately picked up a copy, but then I saw the DVD logo...

A Dutch releasedate seems to set on april 24th 2013, according to these big Dutch retailers' websites:

http://www.bol.com/nl/p/schindler-s-...2004013301614/

Don't order from bol.com (first link, 14.99).
They always set low pre-order prices, but once the product is released, they cancel your order and tell you they can't deliver the product.

That's a lie because they don't remove the product from their website.
You'll be able to order it again, but not for the pre-order price, no... they'll increase the price by at least a few Euros.

Bastards. They have done this to me 3 times.
