Nice UFAlien, thanks for taking the time to snippet his blog. Interesting to watch his outlook on the format change as he realized in the driver's seat, he's holding the wheel and nobody else.

I've heard the same about Comic Con, supposedly a big secret but definitely a circulating rumor at this time. If I was anywhere near San Diego I'd storm it .

But this is the sweet thing about the bonus, even though it's mostly in French, since it's a French production, there's English subtitles for it.

Another update from Bassett's blog!

Quote:
"Saturday is all about Silent Hill 2. Interviews and press from first thing until the end of the day. The big event is a presentation in Hall H at 12:45. We’ve only got half an hour so it’s not exactly going to be in depth. But I’m going to show 2 clips from the movie in 3D. Sadly no trailer yet…they want to premiere that online in a few weeks. Of the clips, one is a sequence with a new monster and the other sees the return of some old favourites. The difficulty really is that the Hall H crowd is a family audience and there’s not a lot from Silent Hill that’s really fun that little kids who are waiting for the Hobbit, can watch. Adelaide Clemens is going to be there and Kit Harington was coming but he’s broken his ankle so isn’t going to be making the journey now. Damn shame for me and the Game of Thrones audience, who I’m sure would love to have seen their ‘John Snow’. The Silent Hill distributors have made up a souvenir Comic-Con only poster for the event which we’ll be giving away – it’s a very cool and striking image. And I’ll be hanging around in the afternoon to sign stuff before heading out to do some more interviews and things."
So in summation:

-Whole day of Silent Hill: Revelation press at Comic-Con
-Screening of two 3D clips
-Trailer premieres online in a few weeks
-Exclusive poster at Comic-Con

I can't be at Comic-Con, but I'm pretty excited anyway! I can't even watch the coverage on G4 as I've got plans Saturday...

Thanks UFAlien for going to such lengths to document the Silent Hill 3D blog. I was worried when he said "Subtle 3D", but from his other comments, there is hope this will be way better than the 3D conversions we've seen over the years excluding some rare gems. Can't wait to see this one. And Resident Evil Ret: 3D.

The Comic Con in 2005 was unforgettable, and anyone who would one day like to see it, it was worth the trip out there. So much to see, and plenty of big movies and their stars to see each year.

I've wanted to go soooooo badly for the past few years, but I keep losing the chance due to procrastination or timing/money reasons I hope Comic-Con is just as epic and mindblowing next year as it looks this year! The amount of amazing movie stuff is CRAZY!!!

going a bit off topic but i just wanted to say, i finally gave alice in wonder 3d a shot last night on ( panny gt30 and samsung d-8000).... i was pulling my hair at one point... who the hell calls that movie a great conversion? there were so many scenes where i took off the glasses and there was not a single 3d image layer on the picture... i turned the movie off after 40 minutes... ( when alice falls in the hole, that scene was sight to behold) but thats it !

It's really crowded but it would be worth it if you can go. Bring a video/photo camera especially, they they (EDIT: I was sure I typed "though they" but this says "They they"? Is there an auto editor spell check on this forum maybe? ) restrict certain things from being taken (movies/certain sculptures).

I remember the opening scenes during the real world looked flat, but once she got into Wonderland, most of it it popped in 3D layers. I'll have to check it out again, it's been about a year now, but I thought it looked good in 3D, considering they used CGI 3D renders I'd imagine, to meld the 3D with the converted 2D people, as with John Carter 3D.

Best way to measure 3D beyond opinion, is to look at the dual layer screen without glasses on. If the two dual images in the background have 1 cm of separation between each other, then it's weak 3D. The foreground will normally look flat due to convergence. If it's 5 cm's or more then it's strong 3D (provided it's not just depth and the layers were actually separated).

My problem with the clip is this: the 'look' of the film is different to the first. The first film had a gritty/grainy look to it and that fitted it well, however, Silent Hill isn't suppossed to look digital/Avatar like.

Dissapointed about the lack of trailer. We should have one by now.

I'll probably see this in 2D and I'd have preferred it if they kept it 2D only to preserve the look that the first film had.

It could very well look like the first when you watch it in 3D, but I remain skeptical.

I agree that the lack of grain is a bit jarring at first - but the look of the film in all other areas (set/costume design, lighting, etc) seems rather consistent. And the clip gave me the heebie-jeebies, which is always good. Plus I'm betting the POV-ish shot of the gurney falling over is epic in 3D.

That's a bummer.

On topic, Silent Hill 3D should have a full trailer in 3D by August 2012 I'd guess. Here's hoping they actually include the 3D trailer on the blu ray 3D disc, unlike 99% of movies these days, missing the 3D trailer. I don't get it. They put the movie's trailer on other movies, but not on the one it's for.

I remember the days when every movie had its theatrical trailer included. Those days are long gone.

I know right? I used to LOVE going through the trailers of DVD's. They don't do it much anymore unfortunately. Maybe the studio's feel having the trailer with the same footage as the movie u bought is redundant?

Just waiting for Silent Hill Downpour 3D to drop in price to around 24 bucks and I'll bite. Thanks for the review.
