Now that the Shout! version of Death Wish II has been out for a little while, have we heard any rumblings about part 3 and beyond coming out under their banner?

Well if 2 does well there's a good chance we'll get 3&4 from Shout!, but 5 was made after Menachem Golan and Yoram Globus parted ways. As a result that one was made by both The 21st Century Film Corporation (Menachem Golan's solo company) and Trimark, seemingly with Trimark holding the home video rights. Trimark is now Lionsgate (they were a few things in between, but whatever), SO if we were to see Death Wish 5 on BD, it'd likely come from Vestron.

I agree it's unlikely as Shout won't be able to offer anything that makes their release better than the existing ones which is something they could do with DW2

Hello?

Robocop 2 and 3
Poltergeist II & III
Species III & IV

Maybe these movies aren't everyone's idea of fabulous entertainment but Shout definitely improved on what came before.

If Shout is going to release mostly reissues I wouldn't mind seeing Collector's Editions of the Death Wish sequels, the Missing In Action Trilogy and The Delta Force. It'll be a Cannon-palooza

I think the main motivation for Shout to even acquire DW2 was because they could include the unrated uncut version which was their major selling point.

Yeah, I don't think any of the other films mentioned need new releases.

Charles Bronson, Michael Winner, and J. Lee Thompson have all passed away...

The only thing that would make Chuck Norris reissues worthwhile would be contributions from Chuck Norris himself.

Although maybe Shout could get Joseph Zito to do a commentary for Missing in Action. I'd probably by that.

And considering that previous editions of 3 and 4 only had a trailer for extras, there's some special edition wiggle room there.

What could they add though? Most of the people involved are dead. All they added to DW2 besides the unrated cut was a commentary. Their Missing in Action 3 release was barebones. I think for most of these Cannon movies there's not much they can do. I think iamnoone nailed it by saying the whole reason they did DW2 was the unrated cut.

I'm pretty happy to have 3 and 4 looking pretty good already. Delta Force has an Arrow release which is lovely. The Missing in Action movies are terrible. I'm good!

P.S. Robocop and Poltergeist are much more on-brand and get the Scream label, so that's not a good sales comparison.

Normally I'd say fan commentaries, but there's plenty of those online already for free or like a dollar each. You'd be surprised what kinda trash you'll enjoy seeing if you've got the right people jabbing at it the whole time. I actually watched Batman and Robin for the first time in almost 20 years because Red Letter Media did a commentary for it, lol.

Part 3 is a terrible film. Commando seemed grounded in reality compared to this sequel. Even worse, all the actors mailed it in.

Counterpoint: Death Wish 3 was goddamned brilliant! I picked up the disc a couple of weeks ago and I loved every second of it.

Delicious, stinky Cannon cheese! The best kind!

Eh, okay - I'll concede the point that we need a super-sexy version of 3 & 4. I'll just privately hold out hope for the secret Bronson archives to spit out a commentary recorded before he died.

Someone not being alive anymore is no excuse not to release a Blu-ray - that hasn't stopped Criterion. Also, Shout has reissued several titles without main cast participation - the Poltergeist sequels, for instance. There are no vintage interviews with Heather O'Rourke. Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams are nowhere to be found on the extras. I'll have to double check the specs but I don't believe they're interviewing Peter Weller for Robocop 2 and Irvin Kershner is dead. The point is, there are ways around lack of cast participation.

I think the main issue people have with reissues is they feel the films don't deserve them. Sorry, but that is shortsighted IMO.

It's worth pointing out that the films I'm talking about are vehicles for a specific actor (Bronson, Norris).

Not me. I just don't see what they could add that would make it worthwhile is all.

Yeah same. Has nothing to do with what they deserve, more about business realities. Even Shout themselves have already shown with Death Wish 2 and Missing in Action 3 that they don't see a lot of sales potential and thus didn't really do any extras. It is what it is.

Now that Paramount has their catalog back and might do some licensing it would be great to see the original Death Wish get an SE from a label, which I feel is more likely.

Paramount will probably do it themselves, to tie in with the upcoming remake.

Another remake? They already remade this movie. It was called Death Sentence. But it has no blu ray release. Go figure.
