I just hope that the transfer of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial when it comes out on blu-ray is not DNR'd too much. We all know in the past Universal has not done a good job with their Blu-Ray transfers for their classic and catalog titles on Blu-Ray with the DNR issues in the past.

Spielberg usually gives thumbs up or down on the transfers, so I'm not really worried.

Jaws should be a good benchmark for the DNR debate...or, hopefully, lack there of.

Excuse me for saying this, but in the immortal words of Steve Austin: "Hell Yeah!" The original theatrical version of E.T. and not the 'kiddified" version of the movie released a few years ago ...

The standard version for me. What in the world justifies a $140 pricetag? Because of the cool spaceship design? Cheap plastic to justify the horrendous pricetag.

if close encounters of the third kind is any indication of how speilberg approves the remastering of his movies then we'll be very impressed with ET. Their was hardly a trace of DNR in that movie and the grain just danced on the screen. It was like it had a life of its own.

now I know CC was a sony release but I have the utmost faith that he'll give us the best presentation of his film possible.

Most likely. It seems like he was involved with both Jaws and also E.T. so... these releases might be a good indication as to what we'll receive when Schindler's List inevitably comes out.

I agree with that. For the most part Steven Spielberg has done a good job with the transfers of his films for Blu-Ray. And I have high hopes that both E.T. , and Jaws will look good on blu-ray.

That was a bit surprising they used an older scan on a Spielberg title. I wonder if it was a financial deal with them given how Universal was responsible for releasing Jurassic Park, Jaws, and E.T. within a certain time span. We knows Jaws has been truly restored, not sure on E.T.'s situation?

It's a pre-order, so you should be able to cancel it, can't you? (unless you can't make it to a B&M location for any number of reasons)

I have another SB included in that order, I also have an existing Target order. I'm going to try and add this to the Target order, and move the other UK SB to another UK order. I don't think there have been any price drops, so I don't think I'll lose any savings by cancelling. If any of that makes sense!

Since I'm locked in at a little over $23(£14.99) on the UK SB, I'm not as concerned as when I thought it was closer to $29(£17.99).

Hey the bottom line is I'm liking the US adoption of steelbooks! I hope this trend continues!

I never really liked this movie. Too sweet. Too predictable. Pass.
