I was looking for a quote from Scott with that statement, but couldn't find it, although I remember reading it.

he mentions it in either BR or Alien audio commentary, or maybe even both.

Thanks.
I have both, so I'll check the commentaries. I thought I saw the comment on the internet, but it eludes me at the moment.

brownie points for somebody that actually appreciates good movies! and yes i was very shocked when i was surfing through news last night and came across a Easter Egg tie in of BR & Prometheus it was like this makes sense but is so creepy at the same time. i give Scott total props for bringing this together i think its quite awesome and what ever ridley decides to do we'll follow

I guess now is better than ever to finally see Blade Runner (go ahead, bash on me, I still haven't seen EVERY film in the universe ).

But, being someone who hasn't seen Blade Runner, but has seen Alien and Prometheus, how would this supposed "timeline" work? First Blade Runner, then Prometheus, then Alien?

You have the timeline correct, but they are stand alone films and can be watched in any order.

don't feel so bad i just had my first viewing of Blade Runner this year! i had seen bits and pieces along the years of it.
but never saw the entire film it was amazing!
well i wouldn't say that it really works quite well between the films? i would just keep with the basics of leaving blade runner out of the Prometheus story-line until further down the road so don't start to getting idea's in your head ya know!

As another member said, it doesn't matter which films you watch first because, until the Blade Runner and Prometheus sequel really make it clear that they are in the same universe, there has not been much to link them - certainly nothing noticable in the films, anyway. Scott seems to have a much grander plan than I certainly give him credit for; I'd always respected his filmmaking style and prowess, but never thought that he'd tie two seemingly unrelated films together with such an incredible piece of inspiration.

Another strong link between Prometheus and Alien was revealed in the extras as noted in the Blu-ray.com review:

"The Peter Weyland Files (1080p, 18:57): A collection of internet promo videos, presented within a dossier of sorts, with notes from Weyland, the most revealing of which suggests that Weyland's scientists detected a signal coming from LV-426—the moon from the first Alien film—and that Weyland considered it a secondary objective."

Shows that the Company knew about the derelict message before the Nostromo was redirected.

Weyland was certainly going for the bio-weapons angle this whole time....nice going, martyring people to get the "Pandora's box"...

And, how about this:

"First Showing then received a few tweets and screen captures from a Twitter user named Stephen Staunton who provided screen captures and more from the 3-D Blu-ray edition saying, "They hint at [the Blade Runner connection] further on the 'Supplementary Pods' on the 3D Blu-Ray version as well." In one of the featurettes titled "Merging Ridleyverses", concept artist Ben Proctor says, "There's one idea that I'm very sad that we didn't do. Ridley, one day, came in and said, 'You know, I'm thinking what if it's the Weyland-Tyrell Corporation? Is that cool?' And we're like, 'Dude, that's really cool. You gotta do it!'" Scott continues, "Maybe the bodyguards, you know, that come out with Weyland, maybe one of them says Batty on his uniform."

I believe the engineers the team come across in Prometheus dont represent the actual race. Im guessing they are part of a seprate group who wanted the destruction of earth.

One of the engineers was actually double agent and sabotaged the bases.

David and shaw will find the home planet and are greeted by the Engineers who wanted the earth to survive and the actual ones who left the messeges.

The engineers are currently in conflict with each other. Shaw and david arrive in the middle of there war....

Of course the above is just my dumb thinking. But i will quote this post in a few years time.

So he confirms Deckard is a Replicant. I haven't read any of the facts and debates, although I like the movie. But has that been confirmed before, or were people still debating it? Sorry, such a rookie question, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Nevermind: I just watched some Ridley interviews...

He has said it before..people still debate it. I think it's better if he's human.

If he's human, then there's no conflict. It's just a standard sci-fi detective thing.

Looks like the link between Blade Runner and Prometheus was a Charles de Lauzirika gotcha.
