I have seen entire collector's editions nearly mangled due to the spider-legs. I would not give that as a gift to myself or even my most casual movie watching friend, because it would be paying full MSRP for a product which is damaged to the point where it doesn't look new. Dented digibook corners are inevitable and can happen during transport from the manufacturer. Slipcovers being imperfect is not uncommon. The entire FRIENDS complete edition set being half crushed due to theft deterrent devices added by the store is a different issue. Amazon not catering to anal slipcover fanatics who want bubblewrap and box shipping for single movie orders is one thing. Target doing this to their products is another....would you give this to someone as a gift? ![]() Last edited by BeWaterMyFriend; 12-16-2012 at 07:27 AM. |

Speaking of theft prevention, annoyed me earlier when I walked out of BB and a kid associate ran out demanding that I provide an itemized receipt (the door alarms didn't go off). Never had that happen before. Apparently it's their 'holiday policy' at this store, though it hasn't been any other day I've been there. And I've been going in 2-3 days a week since the pre-BF sale. Gave both him and his manager a few words and went on my way.

Fortunately for me, I am enough of a regular at the local BBY stores in my area that a quick nod at the yellow shirt by the door is usually sufficient since they know my face. |

I saw something hilarious today.
Several copies of Total Recall were in the large coffins, but most of them had damaged slipcovers. It was obvious that the employees tried to put them in the small coffins first, but they switched to the large coffins once they realized that the coffins wouldn't stay locked shut. ![]() |

Thankfully, my Target also used the over-sized coffin, and the first one I grabbed was immaculate. |

has anyone ever asked a Target employee (or better yet, manager) if anyone ever actually BUYS sets that have been demolished like this by wraps?
I don't mean just dented slipcovers and such, as most customers dont care about those and many probably throw them out anyway. I mean like those seriosly damaged gift sets people have posted pictures of. Do customers ever buy those? and if not, wouldn't Target make the connection and take the hint?!? |

Sadly, I think wickerjay is right. I've only ran into one employee and manager that addressed my concerns when I went to back to complain about the attitude of a employee(turned out to be phone rep). They tried to get me to buy the IJ BD after I watched them mangle the packaging with spider wraps. Add insult to injury, they tried giving it to me again after I ask for one that hadn't been mangled by it and told me that it doesn't affect the movie. I won't add anymore, since this goes to what neoz and others said. Would you really spend your hard earned money on something that has been damaged. Let alone, would you give it as a gift?

![]() Take pics next time, if possible. I'm sure Target customers would love to see spider-wrap applied without damaging the product. ![]() |

LOL, yeah I hear you on that one. I'm honestly hoping the guy got fired. Apparently this wasn't the first time they had received a call on this particular person and he put a stain on one of my favorite stores to shop at. What stick in my craw a bit about it was the total disrespect and lack of customer service on this guy. I'm no spring chicken and it just feels like respect and customer service are a lost art. Still, in the end it worked to my advantage. When all was said and done I bought the IJ set for less than $20 thanks to some $5 off coupons and price matching the original sale price.

But that was still that damaged copy? Using discount coupons and getting a bargain still doesn't mean you should accept a damaged item...

No, there was a 2 week lapse between the incident and physically talking to the LOD. So the copy I bought was a different one that was taken out of the backstock. I think they initially tried to hand me the one that I originally got mad about. It was the only one of the floor. I still need to open it up to make sure that everyone thing is ok, but it looks good in the shrink wrap.

My target uses plastic coffins but it's not AS tight so it isn't damaging the slips.
Otherwise I wouldn't have bought Spidey, Nemo there recently. It's tight enough to where it doesn't move, but not tight enough to choke it. It is tight enough though to where I have to cringe for about 2 seconds when the cashier is trying to yank out the package by pulling the slipcover to use as a pulley. It's awful. |

Reading MB's post reminded me of what I think was my 2nd BD, Inception. When it was released Target had a pretty good deal on it compared to everyone else. Unfortunately those coffins damaged the slips. So I walked over to BB and had them price match Target. I love Target, but they aren't doing right with their training of their associates on this and expecting customers to buy something damaged. Are there folks out there that don't care? You bet, but you can't fault folks who expect to get what they pay for.
