I will tell you the PS3 sucks as a DVD player, if that's what your after. A $50 player off the shelf has ten times better upscaling. |

Hi, I'm an Australian trying to purchase a better quality region A bluray player than the laser brand one I currently have, and was planning on buying a Sony or Samsung player from Amazon, but none of them seem to offer multi zone DVD. I'm perfectly happy with region a bluray, but have many region 1,2, and 4 DVDs, and was hoping they would be playable. Are there any non hacked ones available?

That second one I think is only multi region DVD, not multi region Blu-Ray. And it seems like it's Region B blu ray, unless I'm missing something.

My Orei BDP-M2 is functioning perfectly. While there is no form of "SOURCE DIRECT" mode, the vast majority of discs I play are not both 1080i50 and region locked, my Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD plays ABC 1080i50 Blu-rays and converts to 1080i60 on the fly and also plays Region 0 PAL DVDs converting to 1080i60 on the fly so this works for most items.
When i have something region locked I just throw it in the Orei. |

What's great of the BDP-S6200 is it's a continuance of the BDP-S790 which is excellent at upscaling DVD. I can confirm that as I have the S790. |

I'm thinking about picking up the OREI BDP-M2 from amazon, but I need little bit of a push.
EDIT: Or maybe this one. Anyone have any feedback on it? http://www.amazon.com/Icom-BD780-Mul...blu+ray+player Last edited by Nightman04; 03-21-2014 at 08:04 PM. |

I'm finally going multi-region! After years of being restricted to playing region B/free discs I'll soon be able to play anything

Is there a list of all of the best region free players that are plug and play with nothing else needed for someone in the US? I plan to buy steelbooks from other countries and want to make sure I can play them no matter where they came from.
![]() I see the Orei BDP-M2 on Amazon (out of stock currently) that looks promising that others have talked about. |

My Insignia NS-BRDVD4 died recently. So I just took the plunge and ordered the Orei which is back in stock on Amazon. I looked up Blu-ray players at Bombay and 220 Electronics, but some players had conflicting information between both sites.
The main features I wanted, besides being region A/B/C capable, was having an optical out port and the ability to play 50i content. I had to research pictures of the backs of players to get a definitive answer on the optical port. It seems very few players have them anymore. Ended up going with the Orei due to all the positive reviews and the price point. I ordered from Amazon just in case I get a dud since their return process is hassle free. My Insigina NS-BRDVD4 didn't like The Wolverine Blu-ray. Can anyone with the Orei confirm if it can play it? :update: The Orei plays The Wolverine just fine. I'm surprised by how fast this thing loads movies. Last edited by KFelon; 03-30-2014 at 04:13 PM. |

So i just bought my first Region free blu ray player. It plays A,B,and C.
Model is: Sony BDP-S5100 If i connect the player to the internet so that i can download the latest firmware and such... Will this effect the region free availability in the player? I am scared to do any firmware upgrades on it. Any advice? I am new to region free players so i would appreciate the help! ![]() Thanks! |
