I thought Insidious was awful. Is this the same director?

Yes. He's done Saw, Dead Silence, Death Sentence and the upcoming The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2.

Bummer, man. I still don't get this whole situation. They had originally planned to shoot 6 & 7 back to back. If they're that worried about getting 7 out so fast that they're giving Lin the boot, why didn't they just film them back to back as originally planned?

Lin didn't get the boot. He decided to not come back himself. No one was let go.

James Wan is directing Fast 7. R.I.P. Fast and the Furious Franchise it was good while it lasted. Justin lin you will be missed (2006-2013). Fast 7 is gonna suck.

I dunno. Lin made One really great film with Fast Five. Fast 6 looks really great as well.
3 and 4 are not very good though. Wish they werent rushing this one. Rushing it means they are gonna try to milk the franchise one last time bu giving us a cheaper, shorter, much less impressive 90 minute action film.
Fast Five was great because it has the best action , the best pace, the best character moments , time to establish new characters, and like all great sequels it is not just a different variation on the original.

I am very worried of the new director will not be able to deliver the great action and epic-ness of Fast Five

The F+F Producers will ensure that James Wan offloads the action sequences onto the 2nd Unit directors, and let him direct the dramatic component of the film. I think Mr Wan is a bizarre choice more than anything else, and that Rob Cohen would have been a first-class option to fill the directors chair. I just don't see what Wan can bring to the film.

To each his own i guess in my opinion fast 3 and 4 saved this franchise after john singelton pretty much killed the franchise with 2 fast 2 furious. The only reason why universal is rushing this is because this is only tentpole franchise they have at moment but either way it's a win win situation for universal. If fast 6 is a huge hit like i predict its going to be. People will see fast 7 no matter what and if fast 7 under performs they just end the franchise and reboot it years from now.

See 'Death Sentence'. He does great action. He's a fresh director, don't knock him, or the film, until you've seen it.

Seven is going to be the end anyway, so it won't matter. That's the plan. You've been spewing that the film will be bad ever since the director switch. Just give it a chance. Seriously. You might be surprised. If you go in hating it, you'll hate it the once you see it.

Wow, so many future tellers up in here. Am I in the future right now?! WHAT A TWIST?!

But seriously, everyone needs to stop acting like a pud over this, and wait for it to come out. I swear I see more and more whining on this site daily over all the movie news announced.

we'll have to see how 6 plays out.
