I'm going to pass. Cramming 4 movies on a single disc is ridiculous and not a practice I want to support with my $$$. They will be bitstarved to get the size down. I'll hold off until a company does them right and treats the movies with the respect they deserve.

You'll be holding off forever then. There double feature of the other Gamera movies looked great. That was on a BD 25 with more audio options. Each of these sets will be on BD 50s and have less then 2 times the running time of the previous double feature they did. Just remember this isn't Echo Bridge we're dealing with here it's Mill Creek who actually know what they are doing instead of just throwing content at the discs and hoping the magical blu ray gods will make everything hunky dorry like Echo Bridge.

Completely agree that these releases will be fine with only 1 audio option and being on a BD 50 should be fine, the fact that the Gamera double pack on a BD 25 look as good as it did shows that Mill Creek knows what they are doing. Plus I for one do not expect a presentation akin to recent films so as long as the films look decent and cleaned I'm a happy camper, the fact that we are receiving all the Gamera's on BD period is a god send and surprising to say the least

Best Buy

These are cheaper to order at Bestbuy.com and it comes with free shipping. This is one time where order elsewhere despite being an Amazon Prime member. Im sure Amazon will eventually lower their own price but I decided to go for it anyway

So will these have the Japanese tracks with English subtitles? I can't stand the dubs for Toho's monster movies of the 60's and 70's, they are awful.

Yes every movie includes the original Japanese language track with english subs. There are no dubs included at all. Also Gamera is not a Toho monster. He's from Daiei.

I like the English dubs myself, it would be nice to have both options, but if these are truly going to be 4 films per disc, there probably wouldn't be room. The dubs offer some comedic value if nothing else, and nostalgia, since that's the way I always saw these movies on TV as a kid.

Now someone just needs to get the rights to Destroy All Monsters and do a re-issue, and get it out of the hands of the gougers and bootleggers.

It's getting a extras free re-release from Media Blasters supposedly sometime in the next couple of months. They are supposed to be finally releasing Godzilla vs Megalon on blu at the same time since they got the issues cleared up with Toho. Of course knowing their track record we'll be lucky to see them by the end of 2016.

I had a lot of fun with their modern Gamera set and Daimajin set. I expect these to be quite cheap and I'll probably end up getting them. Have never seen any of the old Gamera movies

If these releases follow the previous Mill Creek pattern, they'll start showing up (perhaps months) early at Walmart and then later at KMart for a pittance.

They aren't like Echo Bridge (I can not stress that enough, because I'm constantly seeing them being confused and compared needlessly.)
We'll see. They are doing the authoring with a new post house as opposed to how their other past releases had higher quality encoders. Don't know if these old releases really need anything fancy though.

And they are really close to Echobridge in both business model and content release. They just have a few higher quality titles that they treat with more respect.

However, for me personally I never learned the Japanese language and I would be forced to use the English subtitle option. I do not like English subtitles on the screen while watching a movie since when I read the subtitles I am not paying attention to the action that occurs on the screen.

Also according to the cover art that was posted these Gamera movies use a lossy Dolby Digital soundtrack. The ideal Gamera Blu-ray’s should use
lossless soundtracks. Perhaps these are lossless soundtracks and the cover art might not be accurate.

I have no problem reading a subtitle and watching the movie. Ive seen them enough times where I know what will happen in the movie. I never thought I would ever watch them in their original Japanese version. As I got older I wanted to see the movies how they were originally made. Now I dont care if films have dubs anymore...subtitles are what I want. I prefer the original language versions not just Kaiju movies but foreign films in general like Diabolique, The Rules of the Game, Hausu etc..
