I really hope these are for the Blu-Ray versions. While I am not thrilled that they are coming in double packs (if they are Blu-Ray) considering they aren't all in order, It's better than nothing.

That's my fear. I don't want to end up doubling up on DVDs I already own.

Yeah just like the Gamera Ultimate Collections which are still at this point listed as DVD even though we know officially that they are Blu. These are for the Blus.

So you cancel the order or orders when the official specs are put up. Just order them now and lock in the price it's not like you'll lose anything except for the time that it takes to click a few times.

So every thing that's listed as DVD's are Blu-rays now? This isn't even from the same studio, so I don't see how that's even relevant to this. Sony's catalog output is anemic at best, yet they're going to put out 2 Godzilla movies for $14? Sorry, but add up that does not. I'd love to be wrong on this, but when the only thing we have to base this on is "well it's amazon sometimes they put DVD when it's really a Blu-ray", I'm not feeling too confident. Nice to see you're making definitive statements about it already though..

Has Sci-Fi Japan made any mention of this btw? I'm certainly more inclined to believe it if they confirm it to be a BD release.

Haven't seen anything on sci-fi Japan but Amazon listing Blu preorders as DVD is a very common practice especially when they first go up. This happens all the time and if you want to keep believing it's an isolated issue thats fine.

There are also way more examples of them listing things as DVD and they turn out to be...DVD

Based on other factors, would you not agree that this doesn't even sound logically correct? Since when is Sony putting out this many catalog releases themselves? Not to mention the fact that they're double-packs which Sony rarely, if ever, does for Blu-ray. And then we have the MSPR of $19.99 and the Amazon price of $14. Since when are Sony Catalog BD's with two movies $14 on release?

If we're talking actual good films in the series overall, that'd essentially just be the original Gojira and GMK, with runner up status to Gojira '84. Son of Godzilla is a very fine kids movie, too. The rest are fun and entertaining (well, mostly), but largely in a kitsch way.

The 90s Gamera trilogy roundly puts all of them combined to shame.
I think GMK is good but, has tons of issues for me. The goofy Godzilla suit in it is easily the second worst in the series after Son of Godzilla.

For Sony usually I would say no it desnt sound right but considering the circumstances (a new film to piggyback off of for the sake of sales, the potential that they may be coming from mill creek and not from Sony themselves, and the fact that they may not think they will sell at a higher price) it is very reasonable to suspect that these will be the blu releases. The fact that someone on the web said they would be blus before they even appeared on Amazon lends a bit more credibility to this. Now I have never heard of that blogger before that point but I'm inclined to believe him.

As for the whole listed as DVD on Amazon deal it is common practice when they list something that doesn't have an official announcement yet. Also with the company being listed as Sony Home Pictures that is pretty much another auto fill for them when they don't have the full release information. They will default to who has released these films before and who they believe will release them rather then who actually will. This is why I think they may actually be coming from Mill Creek. The lack of an official announcement at this point concerns me a little but they could be waiting a little bit especially if it's through Mill Creek due to the fact that they just officially announced the Gamera blus only a few days ago.

But like I said before preorder now and lock in the price incase is does go up. It won't hurt anything if they turn out to be DVD releases as you can just cancel them. Either way it's not worth arguing about this.

What?!

I think that's one of the best Godzilla designs! I especially love the head/face.

The only problem I had with the movie, which took me a while to get over, was the fact that Godzilla is a bad guy, but King Ghidora is a good guy. But I actually think it is one of the better Godzilla movies.

And Son of Godzilla is far from being one of the worst.

Yeah I agree with that. I'm not trying to say you or dsman71 are wrong outright, I just need more proof personally to transition from "it's a rumor" to "this is happening". Essentially this is to protect myself from getting too excited only to be let down by studios

I just really hate the huge belly the GMK suit has. And I love Son of Godzilla, but the suit is incredibly ugly.

I think one of the problems I had with GMK was that the human characters were incredibly stupid - stupider than usual.

They really are great films, especially 2 and 3. I wouldn't fully agree with what he said about them putting all Godzilla movies to shame, Godzilla has a few good ones under his belt, we especially can't forget the original if we're talking great movies. Though I would say the Gamera trilogy does belong somewhere at the top. G3 blew me away the first time I saw it and I continue to be impressed by it. You'll have to judge for yourself if/when you eventually see them though.

If the Sony discs really are DVDs then i wonder why they don't just re-release the past discs with movie cash to see GODZILLA (2014) I mean there's already a double feature of Godzilla vs King Ghidorah/Mothra, and there was a Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla/Destroyah one...are these gonna be remasters?

Why would they release them with movie cash? Sony has absolutely no ties to the new movie.

Oh yeah, I can certainly agree on those two points... GMK Godzilla does have a big belly, but he still does have an awesome head.... and yeah, the overall look of Godzilla in Son of Godzilla is the ugliest, but it's still a fun movie.

Since every single one of their DVDs besides those two had the japanese audio as an option, they could definitely stand to do a re-release on those two. KG/M was pan and scan, too :/ If they re-did those two releases I'd re-buy them even if it's just DVD.

Fact 1 - I ordered a Criterion blu ray that was 19.99 on Amazon when it was later changed to 39.99 - I took advantage of a pricing error made by Amazon, and they honored it. With the 2 movies for 13.99 this could be another Amazon snafu and they will honor it if and when it changes
Fact 2 - Sleepaway Camp from Scream Factory was also listed as *DVD* on the initial pre-order - now its accurate - with all the correct info and specs.

I have no doubt at all about the Godzilla movies being blu ray. These are the very earliest of pre-orders, and barely out of the incubator as it were - within a month you will see more accurate information from Amazon (as they can get anyway) It is also likely that the studio isnt aware that the pre-order exists and Sony will contact Amazon to correct their listings. Remember there were Criterion pre-orders up for titles not even announced this past month...so I feel that it is possible a studio may not be 100% aware of the pre-order listing. I really have no reason to think that these are DVDs since they are all still in print.

**Always remember that you can always cancel a pre-order on Amazon as well as anywhere else. I have found it easier to cancel on Amazon**

:lols:

GMK Godzilla are actually Toho Godzilla films and each new era involves a redesign of the kaiju. The character designs for Godzilla has evolved since his first appearance in Gojira.
