Really? I think he's very versatile. I don't hear Bender at all in his Joker performance, or as other characters...

These are the same games that had Batman engaging in conversation with Catwoman who was making sexual innuendos or Joker making some crude sexual references.

And in Arkham Knight,

So they've already covered more "adult" topics. An animated film adaptation wouldn't be anything worse than what we've seen in those games.
Why do want to see this again if they've done KJ already in AK?

I haven't bought any of the DC animated movies, but I will definitely get this for sure.

Very glad to see Hamill coming back as the Joker. This will be a great swan song for him. Hopefully they get Conroy for Batman as well.

You should get the Dark Knight Returns! That was some solid animation!

Best news I have heard all day! I am doing imaginary cartwheels around my office!

Now if only they can get the equally legendary Kevin Conroy, this will be an animated epic for the ages and one hell of a swan song for Hamill to retire the role in.

Definitely. I like most of them, but the Deluxe Edition of TDKR is a must-own for Batman fans.

Exactly. This is a hallowed comic. This deserves the film treatment and not just a passing reference in the video games.

I really hope this is the cover for the Blu-Ray.

I was thinking, just how rare it is that the fans are actually listened to and the person chosen to play the part selected. We are in for a real treat here Bat-fans!

Conroy and Hamill fit the Arkham games like a glove because it felt like a natural extension of everyone's collective memory of the Batman mythos- which for most people, the animated series was a large part of. I'm not saying it was in the same world by any stretch, but the games relied on the audience assuming there was some kind of past adventures for the characters that resembled something like either the comics or the show, and having those two reprise their voices for it was an incredible auditory shorthand to get you in that comfort zone. Having it be in a completely different medium- a game- with slightly more adult themes made it seem so cool, like it was a natural progression of your enjoyment of their past voice work without feeling like a sequel or a callback.

Whereas in this, TKJ takes place in nothing remotely resembling the world of the animated series, yet it's an animated film so having Hamill and Conroy would just feel extremely "wrong" to me, like perverting the purity of the animated series. I don't think the Arkham games ever went too far, and again were a totally different visual representation. It's just my opinion, but it feels akin to doing an X-rated sequel to a Disney classic or whatever but retaining the same voice actors, making it neither fish nor fowl. There's a reason they went with Peter Weller and not Conroy for DKR, him reminding you of BTAS would be totally out of place for that completely unrelated seminal '80s work. It would not be able to stand on it's own because the story itself is so far removed from any innocence the cartoon represents in our hearts, but with them doing the voices you can't help but think of that and I don't think that is the juxtaposition they want. Just IMO of course.

Now that we already have Mark Hamill, it's only a matter of time before they announce Kevin Conroy in this Bruce Timm animation. I think it might feel like a more scarier and somber version of the animated series, but with different character visuals and designes, more similar to the ones from the graphic novel, and I hope the the coloring will be from the original version. I hated what they did in the most recent edition.

The artist, Brian Bolland would disagree. He has expressed disappointment over the original coloring. Because of the printing schedule, he was unable to do the coloring himself. The coloring for the 20th anniversary edition (2008), was redone by Bolland, the way he originally intended.

Bruce Timm is not directing this, they announced it'll be directed by Sam Liu, who is perhaps one of the worst in the DC animated wheelhouse. I really wish they had at least given it to Jay Oliva, as it seems Timm could not bring himself to do this one personally.
