Yes, this would be amazing in live action too. You hear me, Affleck/Snyder?

I can't wait for this!!!!! Just hearing the news makes me want to read the graphic novel again. I'll get on that now.

Yes! I was hoping for this! I've steadily been losing interest in the movies based on New 52 stories. Batman vs Robin was...not good.

I hope they get Mark Hamill for the Joker. He's always said it's his favorite Batman story and would love to do it if they ever made an animated version.

Affleck and Geoff Johns are writing a solo Bat film, with Affleck directing.
I have faith in this with Timm directing, it will have to be a pretty hard PG-13.

What has me excited besides Timm overseeing it is Mark Hamill saying he'd reprise his Joker for this one. They better take him up on that offer!

Definitely agree. It seems like the movies lack the spark that they had a few years ago. I really hope this is a return to form for them. I'd much rather see them mine classic DC stories than the New 52 arcs.

Also agree with the above, hope they can get Mark Hamill to voice Joker.

I honestly don't mind the New 52 movies, but I'm holding out hope we'll see a Kingdom Come movie in the next few years.

Yeah I think they will, Hamill just did some amazing Joker voice work for Arkham Knight.

Kingdom Come is epic, if they do it they better do it right and make it a two parter ala The Dark Knight Returns.

I haven't been too interested in getting the DCAU releases, to be honest. The Killing Joke will be an exception.

Bruce Timm gives me hope but I've seen too many of these DCAU entries that claim to adapt a comic I love but really only take vague elements or a few visual motifs and then weave their own story around it, their own story which is usually far weaker than the actual comic they said they would be using. Couple that with consistently cheap animation that never matches the original artwork and it just feels like a total waste of time.

The first DCAU I've truly anticipated since The Dark Knight Returns. Cannot wait. I felt the graphic novel, while amazing, was pretty short, so I'd love to see the story breathe in a 75-90 minute film.

Mark Hamill is a must for this.

And considering the maturity of the source material, I hope this one is for the adults. Though I'm sure some parents will see an animated Batman on the cover and think, "it's okay for my kids; it's Batman!" despite the disturbing moments from the comic.

Following the world premiere of Justice League: Gods and Monsters at the San Diego Comic-Con last night, it was announced that three DC Universe Original Animated Movies will be released in 2016, with perhaps the biggest and most highly anticipated being an adaptation of the classic Joker story, Batman: The Killing Joke. Batman: The Killing Joke is the seminal graphic novel written by Alan Moore (Watchmen) and drawn by Brian Bolland that offers up a potential (but not exactly trustworthy) origin for the Joker, and that led to a paralyzed Barbara Gordon to retire as Batgirl…temporarily. For years, it’s been one of the most regularly requested animated films by fans.

The animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke is executive produced by Bruce Timm and will retell this classic tale in an exciting new way. It’ll also feature an original 15-minute prologue that helps set up the story, giving even longtime fans of the story something new to look forward to.

In addition, two other animated movies were announced, and those are Batman: Bad Blood (an original Batman story that features the introduction of Batwoman to the new line of animated films) and Justice League vs. Titans (another original story and the first of the DC Universe Original Movies to feature the Teen Titans). What do you guys think about this news? Let us know below...
