I recently bought the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Seasons 4 and 5 box set because I know it will never make it to Blu. I plan on buying South Park, Simpsons and other animated/anime DVDs but I'm not too sure if HD versions will be made available in the near future. I also buy movies that are dirt cheap and are not worthy of an HD transfer.

Does anyone think early seasons of The Simpsons, South Park, Thundercats and Batman The animated series will ever make it to HD? Keep in mind that they are somewhat old and are in full-screen.

Ever since going Hi-Def, which for me wasn't all that long ago, for the most part, if a movie comes out and it's available in Hi-Def, I will get it that way.

However, there are a few exceptions. I really hate it if a sequel to a movie series comes out in Hi-Def, but the previous films have not been released that way. If that happens, and I already have the previous ones on DVD, then I will get the DVD of the new one. However, if the whole series (including the new one) is available in Hi-Def, then I will skip the DVD version of the new one and go for the whole series (though, in this case it also depends on the series and how much I like it).

I also buy a lot of TV show set DVDs. Those are one of my big addictions. I've been buying a lot of old cartoon series that I grew up with. Most of those won't likely ever see a Hi-Def release, and even if they did, there wouldn't be much of an improvement over the standard DVD release (essecially since many of them have never been remastered and never will be). This as well as other TV show DVD sets make up a lot of my purchases. If it wasn't for these, my Hi-Def collection would likely be bigger.

While I completely appreciate the increased quality of a good Hi-Def transfer, I guess I'm just not anal enough about it to let it prevent me from enjoying other entertainment that just may not have the same degree of picture quality.

I also have hundreds of DVDs (including A LOT of movies), and many of them I probably won't upgrade to Hi-Def (though there have been and will continue to be exceptions), at least not until I can get a Hi-Def version in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart, when and if that ever happens.

What have you done with your standard DVD's? Should I sell them on ebay?, give them away?

Anyone know if there is a place I could trade my standard dvd's for blu-rays?

I've bought a couple of DVDs that I didn't think would be released on hi-def any time soon but in general, I only buy blu-rays these days.

No. Well, ok, I bought TF used on DVD because my wife really wanted to see it. But that's it so far since Q2. Oh, and I just passed 100 BDs with the Harry Potter set this week.

Basically no. Only rare, obscure or weird titles I know will never see the blu light of day on my favorite HD format.

There was also some hard to find movies (DVDs) I had purchased over the years that I would never dream of making it's way over to HiDef like the entire Jet-Li collection (minus the last two). Half of it is not even in English. So, I agree with many of you for collector's items and series that are not readily available in HiDef, you have to do whatcha have to do. Speaking of which, I think I'll pull out the "Once Apon A Time In China" series to enjoy over some well deserved vacation time.

What I find quite effective is taking them into work with me. I get money for what I probably would have almost given away, and they get DVDs for cheap because they can't spell HiDef yet. At the end of the day everyone's happy.

I am SD DVD free for a year already. I am thinking about selling most of my collection of SD DVD's. Out with the old, in with the new.

I won't touch a Paramount or Universal SDVD, if they want my business they can release on the format of my choice. I also won't purchase a WB SDVD if that title has been released (or announced) for HD-DVD, and not Blu-Ray.

Obscure stuff that would never be released on Blu (or would be a VERY long time coming) such as the old TV shows and the like, I will consider.

I'm just kind of a B!+@# that way. Unfortunately, major corporations have lost sight that it's the consumer who is in power. While my quiet picketline may not be seen, if enough people stuck to their guns, it would be apparent in their bottom line.... money.

If I have to wait to see Stardust and Transformers, I'll do it. (I'm not even supporting theatrical, rental, or VOD of Universal and Paramount movies.) Like I said, I'm kind of an @$$.

Since buying my PS3 in July I have bought only one DVD, Pathfinder. If only I had known all I would need to do is wait a couple of months I would have been all set. One DVD I am looking foward to is the two Disc Dark Funeral concert DVD. Something tells me this won't make it to Blu.

I generally don't buy regular DVDs anymore. Since I went Blu in March, I've only bought Transformers and most recently The Bourne Ultimatum. I hate to support those studios at all right now, but those movies (especially Bourne!) freakin rock! The only others I've picked up are the most recent seasons of Simpsons and Family Guy.
