She is half Irish, half Ethiopian, and has been in films such as Breakfast on Pluto (2005), The Samaritan (2012), and Jimi: All Is by My Side (2013). She will co-star in the upcoming television series Preacher and Warcraft film.

But, she is at Cannes because she co-stars in Jeff Nichol's interracial marriage drama, Loving, with Joel Edgerton.

The Paris-set ghost story triggered both boos and applause when it screened for critics ahead of the Tuesday premiere.

Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart, received a four-and-a-half-minute standing ovation Tuesday night at the psychological thriller's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
