Also, there is support for 4K/24/25/30, 4:4:4 @ 8, 10 and 12 bit. Info from Acoustic Frontiers LLC. No specification info on HDMI 2.0 or 2.0a unless you are a member. *as in 3840 x 2160 |

Personally I'm still of the mind that the displays are at fault, first and foremost. When HD came along people merrily output upsampled 12-bit 1080p signals from their BD players without complaint from the displays, so it's a bit disheartening to see certain UHD displays (and not cheap ones, either) having such problems with 12-bit 4K. They can accept the signal, sure, but they can't process it for shit and for me that's not right: the TV manufacturers should ensure that if x signal can be accepted then it should also be able to be processed properly.
Sure, a native 10-bit output from Panasonic would be a nice gesture of courtesy from them but it won't make the underlying problems with the TV's processing @ 12-bit 4K go away. When Dolby Vision on UHD Blu becomes a thing then that'll be a 12-bit 4:2:2 output signal at the minimum so if any of the problem TVs are already DV enabled (I'm thinking LGs?) then they'll be shit out of luck with 12-bit DV on disc. |

4K(50p/60p) Output set at 4:4:4 50p/60p and color mode on Automatic(Ycbcr). Deep Color on Automatic. So when viewing UHD Movies it will say 4K/24p HDR/BT.2020 YCbCr4:4:4/12bit on the output from pressing playback info on your remote. The UB900 includes 4K high-precision chroma processing which can take the Ultra HD Blu-ray encoded at 4:2:0 and use a 4K high-precision multi-tap filter to process the signal to 4:4:4, some TV's are having an issue when it is doing this, banding issues (See pic) but other TVs have no problems. |

I took delivery of my new UB900 this past Friday 2Sept, and while it is a very nice unit, I am more than a little disappointed that Panasonic's "flagship" player, has no support for VUDU streaming.
I hope that Panasonic returns VUDU to their application line-up by way of an upcoming firmware update. I have a sizable library of digital content that I can not currently access. I resent the possibility that I may need to purchase an additional piece of hardware, to obtain functionality that this $700 "flagship" does not include. |

So far I like the menu system and love the remote. Obvious to me the Philips is a cousin of this thing looking at menu's. For some reason even when I select my 5ghz network, it still only connects to the 2.4ghz one.

Is it worth the $$$ to upgrade from the Philips, which I have and really like but don't quite love?
