In your opinion, is this Oldman's best lead performance??
For me his performance in Lost In Space trumps everything he’s done!

Just watched this again for #3.

The soundtrack is SO good. Oldman is just fantastic. The train scene, while a lot of people dont like it, I feel is when I completely can't recognize any of Oldman's facial features or eyes and it looks like Winston Churchill. I still get goosebumps withh the speech on the train, the speech to the outer party, and the speech to Parliament.

I wish Dario Marianelli would win the Oscar for his stirring score. It gave me the chills more than once. I think it elevated the whole movie into something far more thrilling than it would have been otherwise.

It's an absolute crime that this score did not even get nominated for the Oscar. The score is amazing.

I can see the Commons going crazy and removing Chamberlain out of power.

I see Churchill looking out of his escort taxi watching the people of London in the streets.

I see Churchill walking through the underground tunnel under 10 Downing into the Underground Bunker in both of these:

Fantastic film, and while I still prefer John Litgow's performance as Churchill, Oldman was fantastic as well! Very well written, the train scene made the entire movie for me personally. I will also be listening to score soon as well.

My favorite Gary Oldman Performance:

My favorite Gary Oldman Performance:
Didn't know Lithgow played WC. Looked it up and wow he looks closer to Churchill in general than oldman with make up. I still think when Oldman is acting in the train with the british citizens he looks completely unrecognizable.

In case it has not already been mentioned but a couple of great this to watch or pair with this film are the movie Dunkirk (parallel timeline for much of the film) and the series The Crown on Netflix which is set just after World War II, and covers aspects of Churchill after he was brought back after a period of being voted out.
