Pretty sure AGFA takes the same approach as Dorado for their releases: they find the best source they can get there hands on (usually a print, not an IP or something closer to the negative), scan it in 4K, and basically release it as is. They don't spend time doing cleanup, scratch removal, color correction, etc.

Diabolik now lists 11/21 as the release date for bat pus*y. I guess it got pushed.

[QUOTE=filmo70;14175537]I'll skip this one then. The dvd for Vibrations is good enough.[/

Vibrations on BR is a more vivid experience than the SW DVD and I enjoyed the commentary. Tim Lucas can find layers of meaning in three sets and a tiny cast and while it occasionally seems like his imagination is working overtime it all adds to the fun. He got me focused enough on the actress Maria Lease to get a BR of Love Camp 7 and I'm glad I did.

It's nice that Sin In The Suburbs is coming as it is the weakest of the SW DVDs. We want it all but it is astonishing what we are getting.

Do you know what AGFA is? It's a library of rare films. Some of these are the only prints available in the world. You can't source from the original negative if you don't have it. In many cases, these prints are all that remain.

If I'm not mistaken, the releases for Zodiac Killer and Effects were both sourced from the only available prints for these films. It's not ideal, but it's all there is.

This isn't comparable to what Dorado is doing. Dorado probably could obtain negatives for some of these films, but they don't.

I'd bet that AGFA's upcoming release of Ed Wood's TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE will be from the only known surviving print.

I worked as a theater projectionist and recognized those platter scratches on "Effects" right away. It's from running the film wrong- someone doing that to the only existing print of any movie should be banned from theaters for life.

Super late to the party, I just found out about AGFA/Something Weird (I guess that's what happens when you self impose long periods of time away from spending lol) Im crazy excited for these releases and possible future releases, the Something Weird library is definitely something to behold. The possible releases I'm most excited for would be anything from Bethel Buckalew, I've mentioned his films a few times over the years as something I could see coming from Vinegar Syndrome, but this is obviously the place for his films to be released as Something Weird has done DVD releases for his films. The thought of having films such as The Pig Keeper's Daughter, Southern Comforts and Country Cuzzins on blu is very exciting for me. Looking forward for more announcements and acquiring some current releases!

Not happening as part of this deal, unfortunately. The rights to all of those reverted back to Box Office International years ago.

Damn, well hopefully someone gets the rights and does something with them because they really are great exploitation films. Anyways, im still really looking forward to seeing what else comes out from AGFA.

Bat pusy is one hell of a film. The transfer actually looks pretty decent in between the reel changes.

As far as I know this is the first Cuneyt Arkin / Turkish Grindhouse film to be released on Bluray. In the UK it was called Lionman.

If someone was able to source some of the other Turkish wonders it would be insanely awesome !!

If you see this and are considering a blind buy DON'T. Unless you truly get off on seeing 2 fat red necks banging under bed sheets for 80 minutes while talking nonsensical shit.
Watch the cinema snob review to see just how worthless this shit is.
and What exactly isnt to like about that ?

Thanks for selling the film to me ! Sold !

Wrote up AGFA's newest title -- not Blu-Ray, but...

“When madness and death are only the beginning.” Coming this March from the American Genre Film Archive in collaboration with Bleeding Skull Video – the worldwide disc premiere of Pat Bishow’s totally insane THE SOULTANGLER (1987)! A psycho scientist creates a wonder-drug allowing its users to soul-hop into nearby corpses, as long as they have eyes. Unfortunately, the juice also causes crazed hallucinations, driving most to madness. An enthusiastic homemade horror that’s admittedly a little slow to get started, THE SOULTANGLER showcases enough DIY weirdness and location basement footage to keep you occupied until things really get rolling, ending with a gory, go-for-broke climax that’s definitely worth the price of admission. Shot in Long Island on 16mm but edited on videotape, the movie only saw foreign VHS releases until Bleeding Skull finally unleashed a limited tape release in late 2014. Now, the company has paired with AGFA to deliver its DVD debut, newly packed with a ton of great supplements. Besides the standard release version, they've also included a previously-unseen alternate cut, a commentary track with director Bishow, behind-the-scenes footage, a music video and more. Full specs are below – street date is March 13th!

SPECIAL FEATURES:
* Transferred from the original 1'' master tapes!
* Unseen 62-minute alternate director's cut!
* Commentary track with director Pat Bishow!
* Behind the scenes footage!
* Trailers for THE SOULTANGLER & DEAD OF NIGHT TOWN!
* Music video for ''Wow'' by Hypnolovewheel!
* Liner notes by Bleeding Skull's Zack Carlson!

Awesome! I watched this on Exploitation.tv a while ago and the conclusion, as Bruce notes, is a commendably gooey Guignol. I'm loving that cover art as well, and look forward to exploring the extras.

On All the Sins of Sodom, did you have the thing where the image freezes for a second a few times? It happened on mine around 2:40 and 12 minutes, after that I shut if off. The VS doesn't have this problem. I assumed the disc or pressing is defective, but am unsure now, since Dr. Svet's review mentions missing frames being evident without further elaboration. Seemed he didn't have the VS disc for comparison.
Any opinions?
Edit: I heard all the discs have this issue. They should at least put a note on the package or disc, explaining if it's missing frames. Sure a lot of folks went through the hassle of exchanging this for no reason.
