Sony has the opposite of corporate synergy, with no 4K disc drive on the PS4 Pro (albeit a product I own for gaming reasons) and no Dolby Vision on their 4K BD player. Never predict Sony does anything, you can't know when they do anything.

Especially since the US BD is totally borked. I could import from Germany but might as well wait to see if a UHD materializes.

I bought the German Fury a while back, it's gone from having the ultra-black crush on the UK/US editions to the typical thin-assed blacks that are typical of Ayer's recent work. This will end up looking a lot like Suicide Squad on UHD methinks.

I see the free UHD titles for us Prime members - but where are the rentable 4K titles? I click on the other edition submenu but none of them denote UHD or Dolby Vision for that matter

Out of curiosity were any of the Sony BDs that had issues like The X-Files, or was all that detail lost due to the incorrect levels been applied during the mastering process?

The Fury's releases are Goldilocks BDs, we've had two missteps, we just need the 'just right' release now!

From what I remember it was always an actual mastering error with the Sony black crush problem, instead of being Full that's flagged as Limited as per X-Files S8 this was genuinely something that had been hard-clipped to Limited levels at source so the crushed detail was irretrievable, e.g. when I tried to expand the range to Full on the TV it just blew out the brightness completely.

Instantwatcher might help: http://instantwatcher.com/a/search?s...uality%5B%5D=4

But I don't know how to tell which are HDR except Ray's list on another forum.

It's a pain to find. You have to scroll all the way down to "Buy: Ultra HD Movies." And you can't tell if they are HDR or DV until you click on them. A lot of titles that have HDR on disc are listed as not having it on Amazon for some reason.

I'm being careful about which titles I upgrade but this and Dracula are at the top of my list. If HDR is used to potential and the wider color gambit is used to maximum effect these two releases could be amazing!

After seeing Ghostbusters I am definitely more excited to purchase Sony 4k scans of 35mm movies. Gimmie gimmie gimmie!

I'm very excited about new releases sourced fromold school 35 mm without a DI in the middle of the process. I like how Independence Day looks on UHD and I'mlooking forward to get Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and Gladiator.

Yeah I might buy Gladiator now too, which I kind of shrugged about earlier. I'll likely be prioritizing real film movies, which I feel like is the opposite of the general advice, but there ya go.

I think it's weird that the "Remastered in 4k" release was two years ago and finally now we're getting an actual 4k release. I'm also wondering if this is going to be exactly the same as to what the theaters are getting?

Sony already culled and released a 4K DCP last year to theaters, so this isn't really 'new' per say.

Don't know how I missed that this was coming, but definitely will be upgrading if Sony's other film based releases are anything to go by.

Since it's Full 4K and also part of the Remastered in 4K line, it's an easy upgrade. My bet is the BD packed with the UHD will be the same as the one I own in my collection.

I never bothered to get the Mi4K disc because I knew the UHD disc would be coming and I'm not crazy about the new transfer's warmer colors. It will be interesting to see what the colors look like in the real UHD.

For those with Atmos the audio upgrade is by all accounts a no-brainer.

I'm too lazy to import the Gaumont transfer BD.

I never got the Mi4K release so this is an easy purchase for me.

Is anyone planning on going to see the 20th Anniversary screening on May 14th?

I got tickets for my friends and I today at our local Cinemark. This will be the first time I see it on the big screen as I never did get to see it the first time around (can't really remember why)
