Just researched all the covers that've ever been done and found these Zavvi steelbooks. If Sony goes and makes a box set where every cover follows a GOOD theme (the cutouts on solid blue = puke) like these Zavvi ones or the Japanese release, I'd be very happy.

I never bought those out of spite for horrible design, and even the US Mi4K covers are kind of a mess...

I love those Zavvi steelbooks. I've been contemplating on triple dipping on the trilogy (quad-dipping on Spider-Man 2) for them, but then this was announced for 4K so I'll wait and see how things play out with the artwork. I'm hoping they look different compared to past releases... Like good different.

Man I hope those Norway covers are the US covers too. Also I wouldn't mind Spider-Man 2 being the 2.1 cut on UHD. I was kind of bummed the Mi4k blu wasn't, honestly. Though I barely remember the differences now.

Really? I hate how the music is chopped up in 2.1. And the pacing isn't particularly improved either...

Forget improved, it's hampered. Not to a devastating extent, but the theatrical cut is already a beast when it comes to pacing. There was no need to add anything back into it, aside from mere curiosity.

Oh aye, Sony!

After dropping theatrical cuts only on UHD, we're gonna f*** things up now?

*sigh*

I prefer the theatrical over 2.1 but it's a fun cut of the film to watch from time to time. If 3.1 ends up happening then I'll quadruple dip on this trilogy, I think a recut of that could fix most issues I have with it. I'll say right now that I don't dislike 3 anywhere as much as the norm. My biggest complaint is that the music is weak, so that won't be fixed with a new cut unfortunately.

I honestly don't remember the differences enough to debate it, as I've only seen the theatrical cut for years now. I just remember there was some stuff I missed with the theatrical. Maybe I'll go to movie-censorship later and research it.

In either case, these are day one buys no matter what. A no-brainer the size of my waistline.

I still only have the 2007 trilogy box set. I may not adore the movies as much as I did when I was younger, but yeah. This will be a day one buy for me too.

It's crazy that I've been on this forum for three generations of spider-man. Ooh boy.

Yeah I do hope a Spider-Man 3.1 Extended Cut ends up happening it would improve things and it's strange that it's been a decade and we still haven't seen the deleted scenes released to the public but anyways I'm buying the Raimi Trilogy because I love the films and still waiting for the announcement.

If the Amazon Japan website is to be believed --It's not an extended cut but more of an "alternate cut"

The listing shows it as being 137 minutes -- 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical cut.
If true, this implies a complete re-working of the movie rather than just adding in scenes.
This will please some fans (like myself) who want to see some parts cut or trimmed and annoy others who like the theatrical cut just fine and just want to see more footage added.
Rumor has it that the preview cut shown to critics in 2007 was 154 minutes (15 minutes longer than the theatrical.)
A 137 minutes cut would imply that a lot of those extra 15 minutes are still not in the movie and that some of the theatrical footage was trimmed and a portion of the unseen footage was re-inserted.

And all of this may just be false if the 137 minutes run time listed is in error by the (rather in-depth) description given in the Japan press release.

This will be a critical week for the presumed announcement by Sony. With a June 13 release date they can't wait too much longer for a detailed announcement. If it doesn't come this week I fear it may be some kind of error that has been made concerning the information the Japanese were given on their release.

Should I be embarrassed to admit how excited I am for this announcement?

I'm far more excited for 3.1 than Homecoming actually. This news, if true, is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I hope we get a fully loaded 3.1 release for the films anniversary.

Depends on what they cut and re-work. If they bow to years of internet whining and cut stuff like dancing Peter then I'll hate it. If they cut out Sandman killing Uncle Ben though, I might dig that.

A word of caution about what is stated on the Japanese description....

it lists the 3.1 as being featured on disc 4. Fine. Except they list 8+ hours of bonus features to be included on disc 4. How good can the presentation be if it is crammed onto a disc with hours and hours of documentaries?

It gives me pause.

Oh come on -- you know they are far more likely to cut out dancing Peter.
I'm afraid you won't be happy with this version.
Kind of what I was afraid of..... cutting footage that is out in the world will always upset some portion of the fans of the movie.

Here is what I talking about a couple of posts ago. Note 486 minutes of material on Disc 4! And worse, there is a disclaimer saying everything in the description is not final !!! My worst fear. It's just a misunderstanding. LOL

Of course those are the specs for the Blu-ray set -- but I assume the bonus disc will be a Blu-ray disc even on a UHD set of the movies.
