So since it’s director approved, there’s bound to be controversy over color timing, framing, or something else.

I was hoping for the "Tour of the Inferno" doc from the Pioneer LD to be included

Now that I know this is from a new master I'm interested again, but am still not gonna run out a pay top dollar (or £).

Like most other Shout catalog steels, it should drop in price soon enough (lower than $15).

Exactly my thoughts. My main concern is buying this then SF later releasing a UHD. Now that all the studios are supporting the format I have to believe the boutiques will. I would even settle for a 4K without HDR at this point.

Just placed my order. Hopefully this goes better than the debacle that was The Apartment.

Aren’t all of thier steelbooks usually limited to 10,000? It looks like this is a Shout release and not a Shout Select release.

I’m probably gonna pick this up. Never owned it before though I do enjoy it.

I meant the problems with filling the orders. That was a limited run as well.

I'm more interested in getting this without the steelbook. I wonder if that will be an option, after the 10,000 initial steelbooks sell out.

The DP was on one of those yearly Oscar roundtables few years ago and told a story how Stone kept demanding more and more yellow in timing, going beyond his own good judgement, when they were finishing Platoon.

Taking a quick look at some screenshots the current bluray version it doesnt seem particularly yellow.

Yeah, but you always have to add on a few quid for the UK.

We never get US titles as cheap as Americans (and vice-versa to be fair).

It'd be nice to have the original audio back, and IIRC even the LD box set was a remix.
Speaking of which, I need to track that one down. The complete box version was a masterclass of disc packaging art.

They're not tricking me with director approved. I'm sorry but im done with their "director", or "DP Approved" malarkey. Their release of The Thing taught me a valuable lesson. Thanks anyway.

New 4K scan of...what element, exactly? Hopefully this was done in-house at MGM in any case.
