Shout/Scream doesn't release 4K discs yet, not to mention the pre-orders have been up for a while.

It did use this remaster... apparently it wasn’t 4K. That’s something they definitely would’ve shouted about in 2013/4.

This is one for me that breaks the feel totally.

I still don't understand how the Cundey misinformation still gets spread on these forums. He was only involved in two home video releases of Halloween, the 1999 DVD and the remastered Blu-ray.

The DVD which some people actually think has the original colors was revised by Cundey to give it more of an autumnal feel. The remastered Blu-ray was Cundey re-creating the original colors. The saturation seems a bit too low but the colors themselves are very true to the original look.

Cundey has decried the other releases of the films which were complete messes and were done without Cundey's input.

I used to dislike the latest release's color, but I will admit that in this case, I think the de-saturation does lend itself to looking like what you said - a crisp, autumn day. Especially since fall colors weren't exactly plentiful in any version. I think the older blu-ray is way too saturated.

Not to mention contrast boosted to the extreme and DNR'ed.

Nothing I read in this thread will dissuade me. It’s my favourite horror movie and the idea of having it in 4K just in time for Halloween has me delirious.

I hope the rest of the Halloween series get a 4K Transfer hopefully with HDR would be interesting to get Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers the producer cut but doubt it I think Shout Factory has the rights for the Producers Cut I am not sure.

Lionsgate has the rights to Halloween 1, 4, 5, 6, H20 and Resurrection. That includes the Theatrical and Producer's Cuts. Lionsgate released a blu-ray of the Producer's Cut a few years ago. However, they don't have the rights to the bonus features that were exclusively produced by Shout Factory for the deluxe complete collection.

I really wish we could get Carpenter to approve the color timing for the "Halloween" 4K UHD. I don't think Cundey is a reliable expert when it comes to his "approved" color timings. Case in point: Shout's Collector's Edition of "The Thing" vs. Arrow's Special Edition.

I'm more inclined to think Arrow's has the correct color timing since Carpenter was involved in approving it. I hope Lionsgate can get him involved to oversee the "Halloween" UHD so we can finally get a definitive release with the most accurate representation of how the film looked when released to theaters in '78.

I would be satisfied with just 1 and 2. Halloween 4 really was the last tolerable movie in the franchise for me. After that, it all went downhill IMO (Halloween 2007 being the exception).
