DeepDiscount is a US site, he's talking about USD. If you ordered from there you'd still have to pay shipping costs and GST if you're in Australia.

I would have been all over this if they fixed the cropping. I would be very surprised if this hit UHD anytime soon, and there won't be any more blu's that'll fix it.

At least it's not vertically squished like the Anchor Bay scan. That's worse than losing a small amount of image around the sides IMO.

Received mine. Nice extras, pretty much is the "ultimate edition" on that score, but some big omissions like the Richard Liberty audio recollections which IMHO are a big loss.

I'm not pulling my punches over the encode, looks like shit in places. Blotchy, blocky grain. Is this the same as the Shout? I know Umbrella have history of reusing exact encodes of other labels.

Third Blu-ray double dip and I'm still waiting for a version I'm totally happy with.

1st time poster here so apologies if this is common knowledge, but where is the best place to purchase UK and USA Blu Ray and 4K Blu Ray films here in Australia? I used to use Amazon, but their UK site refuses to ship to us...

I don't recall seeing that in the US release. Maybe it's a local encoding issue?

Was the Anchor Bay ver squashed? Looks normal in the pics.

Also any one have any recommendations on which blu ray is the best for Day of the dead? I have the Divimax Anchor Bay dvd and it's surprisingly pretty good (for a dvd that is). I was pretty excited about this as I can just order one at a JB HI FI but it sounds like it's slightly cropped which I know will just bug me.

It's squashed -- check out the comparison here:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=67481&i=7&l=0

Of course, it could be that the SF is stretched and the AB is normal. There's a whole debate on it, I believe in the SF release thread, and my conclusion is that the AB is wrong. But you can look at the evidence for yourself and see what you think.

As to recommendations, there are so many variables, the stretching/squashing being just one of them. Other ones that come to mind are warmer vs. cooler colors (also apparent in the comparison above) and censored vs. uncensored audio. Oh, and the cropping that you mentioned. You have to nail down your preferences for all those variables, and then if you're lucky, there will be a release that matches up.

Apologies...watched the SF edition again and it does look pretty noisy, especially in the opening scene. Had a look at a mates local blu ray and it looks like exactly the same transfer.

God each Blu Ray of day of the dead is slightly different. Can anyone comment on the colour timing of this release?

There shouldn't be a debate, because it's 100% that the Anchor Bay is incorrect. Anyone debating it doesn't know what they are looking at.

The SF is also from a new scan, so there's zero reason the geometry would or should be wrong. They screw up a lot of stuff, but they don't alter geometry of the image.

It's the Shout! master, judging from the caps of the Shout! release. So that's the colour timing we're dealing with.

Anyone have any idea on what audio is present in the Ultimate Edition? Is the the same as the Shout?

Also side note: Dear god there is literally an issue with every blu-ray release of this movie. It's actually quite amazing. Anchor Bay's is flattened (with censored audio), Arrow's is stretched(This time with good audio) and the shout has correct proportions but with a different colour timing and a cropped image (again with censored audio). There's no winning.

Also Rockercub. I really do think you are right about the SF being the right proportion, an interesting point I havent really seen brought up is that it's the only BD to match the proportion of the old Anchor Bay dvd release.
