With Toy Story, the final output is digital. You also lose picture quality if you scanned a film out. With CAPS titles I can see merits either way- accessing the CAPS files directly would be the highest quality source. However, these titles were all printed to film and keeping a filmic look is preserving the original theatrical look and feel. For CAPS I personally prefer film grain as it adds a bit of texture and depth to the image. If Disney uses the CAPS files directly I would be fine with it (not sure if they can) but if they scan a film out, the grain should be left intact. It also avoids all the annoying smearing, etc that DNR can cause. |
