We try not to limit it to one time a year - more of a year-round tradition...

Is there really still no announcement of a Best Buy steelbook? I'm starting to think we won't be getting one. Usually Best Buy is way ahead of Target and other exclusive retailers.

There hasn’t been an announcement / press release from Disney for this title full stop. Be patient and wait for that, in time it’ll all come.

Of course, some Signature’s have had changes made since the Diamonds. But they’ve all been minor fixes like fixing audio glitches, reinstating titles and adding clouds back into shots. Much different to a completely new restoration.

But hey, I’ve been wrong before, I just don’t see it happening.
Came here to say the same thing. TLK isn't a true 4K it's just an upscale, surely TLM will be the same. A shame.

The facts are that the Lion King was animated using CAPS which has a 2K limit. The Little Mermaid was animated using large format animation cels. The negative was scanned for the previous diamond edition Blu-ray at 4K and remastered in that resolution. The upcoming release will come from that same restoration. Ergo, true 4K, plus HDR.

Mermaid was scanned in full 4K prior to it's 3D conversion. No reason to believe it will only be 2K.
All hand animated films from Mermaid on will be limited to 2K due to CAPS.

Be. Patient.

Disney’s announcements / press releases don’t come as early as they used to. These days they come a month before release at best.

Yesterday we got one for Nutcracker, which is due out in only three weeks.

With Mermaid expected at the *end* of Feb, one could drop anywhere between now and a month’s time.

This.
With the exception of the final shot which was animated with CAPS.

All their movies Pre-1989 will have no such issue.

Ordinary release available for pre-order at Target. Strange that the cover shown here does not have the bottom red band with "Ultimate Collector's Edition" that the thumbnail on videoeta.com has. It also has a G-rating on the cover.

The G rating logo will 100% not be on the actual product, that's just a press version of the artwork they do sometimes. Incredibles 1 and 2 both had press versions with ratings on them as well.

That “thumbnail” was a “fanmade” mock-up using the Blu-ray art. Happens all the time with these releases.

The Nutcracker release dumped the red banner too, looks like Disney is de-cluttering their covers..

The thumbnail with the bottom red band is still on videoeta.com. I don't think they use fanmade covers on that site. Anyway, we will soon find out what the actual cover will look like. I guess most important is what is inside.

Sounds like this could be the new feature that Jodi Benson has been speaking about working on... and they relegate it to DIGITAL EXCLUSIVE??.. Are you kidding me?!

I'm excited about this 4K. Now I just need Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast on 4K and I'll be content. Those, along with Lion King, are the only classically animated movies I'll upgrade.
