Yeah, can't say I understand this sort of thinking whatsoever despite being more forgiving of most of the special edition changes. I think as many versions as possible should be available!

I’ll wait for caps. I still have my DVDs for the prequel and original trilogies and I had no desire to get the Blus.

so will the new disc of 'Last Jedi' have Dolby Vision (like the current disc), or will Fox/Disney relent and be consistent and actually include the metadata layer? guess time will tell what happens in this regard.

Why for the prequels? Despite the DNR in TPM everything about the BDs destroys the DVDs on the prequels.

Looks a little bit like the Bond 50 BD set from 2013.

4K77:

While I certainly want the original versions over the newest updated editions, supposedly (I have yet to watch them) the versions now on Disney+ have better color timing.

After the Blu-Ray releases of the first 6 episodes came out, like a year or so later, they were prepping them for the 3D theatrical re-releases (even though only Episode 1 ultimately came out in this form), and they had new transfers done for that. There are even further minor changes to the films (the Han/Greedo scene has been slight altered again).

So hopefully the 4K discs, and (fingers crossed) the standard Blu-Ray discs in this upcoming set are based on those versions. I'm sure the 4K discs will be no matter what. Whether they make new discs of the new transfer for standard Blu-Ray or just release the same discs that already exist with the set is anyone's guess at this point.

I don’t care much for the random editing changes in “Attack of the Clones” for the Corusant chase and when Dooku’s escaping.

I'm genuinely asking. I don't have Disney+ and didn't see apparently new masters from it.

So GL knows most people don't like his SE cuts right? He for sure knows that fans would like a proper high quality release of the OT. Yet, he shows no interest in appeasing the fan base that has made him a billionaire.

I've been thinking about that too. They won't repress the disc to not include Dolby Vision (for all the difference it makes on Last Jedi, lol) but it'll sure look odd if they don't include it on the other 8, even if it is just a metadata layer and not a full enhancement layer. But if Disnee do it for these then they leave the door open for fans to whinge 'why don't they include DV on their other UHDs??' so it's a bit of catch 22. I'm sure they'll do whatever's cheapest, i.e. leave Last Jedi in DV and just put the rest on disc in HDR10.

Same here. At least with the Bond set and something like the Fast and Furious 8-disc set there's a little window which helps to tease the disc out without scratching it to shit, but that kind of sealed slot seen in the Star Wars set is still my #1 absolute pet hate for packaging.

Ugh, I'm still buying it anyway.

This is amusing, the quality of the 4K media of the future Saga set being strictly judged by what you see as Disney + which we all know is not as good as the released 4K media such as comparing their 4K stream of Moana vs UHD BD Moana playback.

Question: Are the 4K77 and 4K83 worth purchasing on ebay? With this new set announced I'd really like to compare and have never watched them.

They're definitely worth owning, but please don't pay someone on Ebay for them- no one should be profiting from them and anyone selling them on Ebay had nothing to do with their production.

that's what I'm thinking, well at least it appears Disney put a stop to Fox adding HDR10+ on discs with 'Ad Astra'

Is anyone saying the OT does not look great on Dis+? Best I've ever seen it look.
Sure, there will be a slight upgrade on the disc, but I'd expect the same mild use of HDR the streaming version has

How does one obtain these “4K77/80/83” that everyone keeps talking about? I found the website where they talk all about it and the work they’ve done but I don’t see any purchase option. Is it a download only? No disc?
