Maybe they'll include the Holiday Special!!
That’s the Canadian price, the conversion rate currently puts that at $250 USD.

It looks a billion times better than the Blu-rays, that’s for sure.

You're just reading into a post that could be 100% practical and dispassionate, for all you know. Catastrophic failure of this set would perhaps be the shortest path to a proper release. And I don't see any whining or tantrums in the post you quote.

Well, sure, but the Blu-rays are the Special Editions, too, so that's pretty much moot.

Let me know when the fan projects have better quality sources than the Disney versions.

Did we really need another post that simply repeats exactly the same information as the international thread with the same link?

Lucasfilm can't even get the color timing right. So, yeah, despite the 4K fan restorations being taken from mediocre secondary 35 mm prints, I'm gonna say they look better than Lucasfilm's ugly versions. They look more like film.

Blu-ray:

But that's not really saying much now is it? I have only seen bits and pieces of the OT D+ streams though. I liked the color grading, but they looked DNR-ed and unnatural sharp to me.

I take the "rough" yet lovely grainy look of 4K77 and 4K83 anyday over the official Blu-rays and I'm quite sure I'll prefer them over the D+ streams too. And then there's also the fact the fan projects are the OG versions ofcourse...

It's Star Wars- there's gonna be a big, popular thread there and there's gonna be a big, popular thread here.

Yeah, nothing shows maturity like wanting others to be disappointed about something that doesn't affect you at all, just so you can laugh at and belittle them.

Like I said before in another post, perhaps I'm just used to the grainy rough look of the fan projects.

And from what I have seen so far and to my eyes, the D+ streams look off somehow and like they have DNR applied.

The special editions have much for seasoned fans to nitpick to be sure. But I don't think there is anything so egregious that it would dissuade a potential fan from liking the films altogether. In fact, there's so much to take in in these movies that if you showed both versions back-to-back to an uninitiated viewer they'd be hard-pressed to "spot the difference".

All that is to say I don't have an issue with your recommendation; I just think it's true that a first-time viewer should have minimal barriers to viewing the movie if that makes sense, unless they're a huge film buff or have some serious level of interest. It's harder for some than others to torrent after all.
