Don't say "only" to me, pardner. My number one desired extra is ALWAYS the original theatrical trailer. I'm loving this release already!

That, and adding the obligatory mustache to the main character. Seemed abit much, but when in Rome...

I think if you are a fan of How to Make a Monster you will be very happy. It looks and sounds pretty good and is loaded with extras by todays standards....

Usually when I blind buy a film and I don't care much for it or feel like I will never watch it again, I trade it in at my local video store. However, I think I will give this one another watch first...
I was surprised to learn you didn't care for the movie too much. Admittedly, it's plenty cheesy and with lots of head scratching weirdness, but I've always looked upon it not as a guilty pleasure, but a GOOFY pleasure. I bet you would have liked it more as the third feature of a triple bill Blu including I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF and I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN (both of which are obviously referenced in it).

Sometimes enjoying these crummy, but lovable, movies can be hindered by not feeling like you got your money's worth for a stand alone Blu. Don't get me wrong, I'm not undermining your critical judgment by overlooking the film's obvious shortcomings, but for me I sometimes think movies like this belong in a set and part of a bigger picture, rather than being front and center. In any case, I do hope you hang onto it and give it another chance sometime.

It has one of my most-favorite MST3K lines in it:
"Has anyone seen Glen?"
It's delivered so naturally, I didn't catch the gag until a repeat viewing.

I love I Was A Teenage Werewolf and like The Amazing Colossal Man, I have had many
[Show spoiler]boots
and have yet to find a decent copy of it. I also have I Was A Teenage Frankenstein but I'm not as big a fan of that film. Some films grab me and some don't and I have no idea why. I gave up trying figure out my tastes a long time ago...

Ha ha, yeah, that doesn't apply to me. I paid $30 for Attack of the Crab Monsters without batting an eye...

Was simply answering your question why some people don't order direct.

I prefer to order direct and am even willing to paying a little higher price to do so. Price is not always my first concern, but when you are talking about a delivered price difference 2 - 2.5 times that's too big of a difference for me. For other people it is worth it.

Well, if it's not the cost to enjoyment ratio, then I can't figure out why you didn't like it. I mean, come on, this is a movie where
[Show spoiler]a dude has to hypnotize HIMSELF in a bathroom mirror in order to go kill somebody?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the trailer for HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER refer to star Robert H. Harris as "the stellar Broadway star" and also use the word "pulchritude" to describe dancing girls? Man, the promotions department of AIP was sure smoking some wicked reefer madness in those days!

Not a fan of that movie either. Its ok but not one I really watch. Have the dvd but would never bother. To upgrade. It was cool to see the various monster designs recycled overall did nothing for me

Yes, I would definitely buy a quality version of "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" if ever released, even at limited edition Shout pricing. My only copy came from a YouTube download that I can only enjoy watching from my iPad.

I think my favorite part was the “what did you do with my truck!” bit at the start of the film

My favorite part is when they are looking at a footprint and one of the men says "the man who made this was about 60 feet tall" and his wife goes "Glenn was 60 feet tall!"

They must have a bunch of giant men running around in those parts.

I was actually typing the same thing (BTW it's the sister, Glenn never married). I thought they used the dialog as the stinger, but that was Mr. B Natural.

Dang, it couldn't have been Glenn. He was only 58 feet tall so there must have been other giants tooling around Mexico

Finally watched it. I thought it was a nice upgrade, especially the sound. It wasn't on the level of Attack of the Crab Monsters but it's definitely a worthy upgrade. Manning's cries are even more creepy in HD.

I'm surprised people are giving the PQ on this high marks. I thought the last half of the movie looked quite bad.
