Although it has to be something I've already seen before as otherwise I'll get distracted. Today's menu is the Nolan Batman films.
I usually have sports (replay of last nights game or if there is an afternoon game on) and music playing every day....I get the distracted part. I moved over to the bank's legal department last month, so I am now reviewing more complicated documents (subpoenas, writs, levies, etc.....), so I have to stay focused.

We'll see if it involves expansion of the 3.1 set up...funny thing is I limit watching any TV/playing on my main TV downstairs..... I watch much more TV in the office. Not sure if SVS has any "B" stock, but if they did, that would be the way I would go for the office.

That sounds serious and hopefully a bump in pay!

I usually have sports replays or live going in the evenings when I'm gaming or on my tablet or laptop while the wife is watching shows. I haven't missed a Dodgers broadcast yet this season . I also watch more in the office as well, and save the main room for Friday nights and weekends. I also shop b-stock/open box for the mancave, unless there's moving parts like players. That replacement AVR I just picked up was open-box/excellent cond. with a pretty good discount. Same for most of my current speakers in the mancave.

As of late, I've read some interesting things about the massive Pinnacle Towers. Despite being labeled as a 6 ohm speaker, apparently they dip down below a 4 ohm load (in some cases, 3 ohms) which is pretty taxing on an amplifier. You'd have to get something pretty damn hefty to push them hard enough to eek all that energy out of them.

I asked for an impedance graph, and the lowest point seems to be at about 2.5 ohms at around 80–90Hz

This doesn't surprise me given their specs. But I'm glad I forgot about them after all that chatter we all had previously in this thread when they were releasing as I was seriously considering getting them. My 2-channel amp, which is class-H and technically a dual-monoblock design, is otherwise only rated to 4 Ohm. I sometimes yearn for an old setup from years ago, which had AudioSource monoblocks that could probably drive a fridge.

I too was admiring them from afar as I have a serious case of upgrade-itis as my basement speaker system is over 20+ years old. That being said, I'm not a fan of buying the first iteration of anything and after reading about the 6 ohm specs, I began to dig in a little bit more and then hit upon the reviews above which gave me pause.

Oh 100%! This forum was big-time responsible for my "evolving system" back during it's audio-heyday. I went through an AVR, 3 pre-pros, and 2 analog stereo pre-amps in a matter of 5 years. And that was just my main setup.

I remember those days.... went thru the same thing. Hec, YOU are the reason I have my Rockets (literally). Had them 14 years now....still looking good and sound even better. To stay on point...my SVS Elevation speakers have been on point with supplying the Atmos sound field in those scenes that demand it.

Cool we have an SVS thread here! My entire 7.2.4 system is all SVS. My current setup is:

Prime Pinnacle x2
Prime Center
Prime Bookshelf x4 (surrounds)
Prime Satellite x4 (ceiling)
PB-2000 Pro x2

It all makes for a great theatrical experience for my blu's/4k's. I also have been buying a lot more audio blu's and 4k concerts over the past few months. I did try the Elevations for Atmos, but they didn't deliver like the satellites and being able to point them directly at the MLP.

I remember! Yeah I can't believe how long its been. I still have mine, but they are upstairs in the loft now. My son uses them with his turntable when he's not away at college. Seems he inherited the audio bug.

I'd like to try out a set of the Prime Elevation, but yikes they went up in price. And they were already pricey to begin with.

I can't remember, does SVS have any B-stock? I remember Emotiva used to have a good selection of B-stock. But if SVS does have B-stock, you might get a better price there for the Elevations.

Oh God, yes...every dang year without fail. Just gotta wait for the Black Friday, President's Day, etc. sales. They've even re-run past production models to where I was able to get a matching sub from a previous model that I had in-house.

Yeah the sales are pretty good. The Elevations were $199 ea sometime last year. Don't recall if they were B-stock, but that amounts to $100 off per pair.

But I don't know what I was looking at earlier. I thought I saw them priced at $299 ea now ($50 increase). But I just checked again and they're $249 ea., which has been the normal price for a while.

They really do take care of their customers. A couple of years ago, I traded in a pair of subs that I have in the mancave using the trade-up program. They released a Pro version after I had bought the subs which were non-Pros. I was slightly passed the 1 year mark which is the term for the trade-up, and they still honored it. I basically got the upgraded version of the sub for the price diff of the Pro version, which at the time was $100 each sub.

Thanks!

Figures, the white Prime Elevation are $50 more ea. at $199. If they were priced like the black ash at $149 I wouldn't hesitate... sigh. I get it though, probably the black looks worse with blemishes. I would fork up the $ for 4 in white at the $149 price. I've otherwise seen them at $199 more than once before so I can wait.

But damn, $1599 for a PB-4000 with "a blemish"? Now that's really tempting. Hmmm...
