Ben Foster certainly proved to be a versatile actor. I had to do a double take to make sure that was him in Alpha Dog and 30 Days. Dude has potential. Englund will always be Freddy though. I was honestly surprised when I read he was all for the remake, and was considering handing off the glove.

And you are exactly right, Jeff. These films have a huge fan base and hundreds of millions of dollars of success for a reason. To try to "re-invent" or "re-imagine" these series is ridiculous. I am slightly relieved they appointed Shannon and Swift to write Friday the 13th, and they have stated that are going mostly for a sequel along the lines of Parts 1-4, which is a huge relief. However, I still fear the movie will be campy and spoofy, based upon some of the things they did in FvJ. I was almost sold on the idea when Jonathan Liebsman was supposedly going to be directing -- but Marcus Nispel directing disappoints me pretty much eliminated every last element that was great about the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre in his 2004 "re-imagining."

Looks like Englund isn't going to be reprising his role. Tis' a shame. The guy represents everything good about the Nightmare series and slasher horror. Platinum Dunes almost never gets it right, so I don't know why I am so surprised.

So first Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then Friday 13th, now Nightmare on Elm Street.

What is going on? I hope it doesn't suck. I'm looking forward to New Line re-releasing the original on Blu.

It won't. Can't beat the slasher 80's style horror.

Man am I getting tired of remade 70's and 80's horror movies. Are there no original ideas anymore? The Texas Chainsaw massacre was decent but stayed pretty faithful to the original. The Fog remake sucked big time, so did The Amityville Horror remake. Good lord give it a rest. If you can't improve on the original LEAVE IT ALONE.
