Barbarella is at Paramount. Be careful what you wish for!

I got an email from Arrow last night telling me my order was ready to dispatch but there was a problem with my payment method. I originally paid with Paypal back in September. I logged into my account and resubmitted my Paypal info again and it went through. I requested an update to my order and they just informed me the payment issue is settled and it's in the dispatch process now.

Does anybody know why my original Paypal payment would have failed? And how Does Arrow ship? If it ships soon could it still arrive in the US in time for Christmas? How do they ship?

It's a common issue with Arrow. All my initial PayPal payments for Arrow pre-orders have failed in recent months. Card payments always go through though.

I've received "failed payment" emails from Zavvi but it was because I used a card that was nearly maxed out when I placed the order. I do that in case I change my mind about the item to prevent them from shipping it out

I've never had a failed payment issue with Paypal before so it must be Arrow. They're run by Zavvi now so no surprise. My copy still hasn't shipped but they confirmed the payment issue is straightened out, with no explanation of what happened.

NEVER go by IMDb for facts or technical specs. Sometimes it gives you a general idea but so many films are listed with incorrect info and then this gets repeated causing all kinds of misinformation.
For 70mm just go to in70mm.com
https://www.in70mm.com/presents/1963...1972/index.htm
Here is shows that Silent Running only received a blowup in Europe which would explain why there’s never been any sign of a six track mix here or any 70mm showings.

The other great thing they do is try to debunk rumors or update listings as with their new article about Moonraker likely not having the premiere 70mm London print we all thought it had.

The site you linked to says:

”Silent Running Spherical (1.85:1) Sept 28 (UK) 6-Track Stereo Universal”

So apparently there was a release with 6-Track audio after all.

Not sure why it would matter that it was not shown in the US. If you’re going to produce a 4K BD then you can get the source material from anywhere.

Ok, so donate your 70mm print with intact audio tracks to Arrow. Problem solved.

The question was whether there was a 6 track audio release or not. Apparently there was.

There's probably going to be a lot of examples of Blu-rays/UHDs missing 6-track mixes but contain the original mono or completely remixed 5.1 tracks only. For example: The Andromeda Strain is listed on that site as having a 6-tack stereo mix but the remastered Blu-ray from Arrow only has the original mono.

Just because there was a foreign listing doesn’t mean that it was a production produced six track mix or that it even survives. Labels also only receive what the studio provides and frequently foreign materials get missed or never added to US holdings and thus rarely see the light of day if they survive.
I can’t say what happened here but my guess would be that if a foreign blowup happened the six track mix is likely a foreign dub and you’d have to dig in overseas vaults to find it if anyone would let you.

Countless CinemaScope and other 4track mag mixes are gone, lost or deteriorated beyond salvaging. This would also go for six track mixes so it could be due to deterioration that this mix isn’t available.
Most scope mixes that survive are only partial such as Forbidden Planet where they had to artificially recreate the mono surround.

And my point, if you’re so certain it exists, produce a copy!

Agreed. Also, on a logic level, if we are to believe much of what's been reported about the film (including by the director in interviews) this was a shockingly low budget film for what was accomplished visually. Which makes sense since Trumbull was one of the great visual effects masters of all time who could create the models and effects on his own dime. But a 6 track sound mix is pricey, so the idea that they created one for the initial release, even though the U.S. release wasn't 70mm seems a little hard to believe. I'd surmise it's more likely that was put together later, and quite possibly without Trumbull's involvement. A guess, I'll admit, but it makes more sense than paying up front for an additional 6 track mix on a $1 million film that would never even be used in the U.S.

The 6 Track audio was from the UK release as specified here, so a dub is not likely.

Has anybody's order from Arrow's site actually shipped yet? Mine still says processing and I was told yesterday my payment issue was resolved and released from warehouse and in dispatch phase, but as of today it still hasn't shipped. I asked them today and they said the same thing practically word for word. They probably didn't even check it other than looking at the same status page I see. I was hoping this would arrive by Christmas but it's not looking promising.

And sure enough I pressed the issue with Arrow again and just got this back:

"Kindly note that your order was expected to be dispatched on 13/12/2022. We apologize for the delays. If this is not delivered by 20/12/2022 please get back to us for further investigations."

This is after I asked them to double-check this personally since it was intended to arrive for Christmas.

It's the same circular nonsense I've dealt with when talking with Zavvi in the past. There's a reason I refuse to buy from Zavvi ever again. I guess I shouldn't be shocked here since Zavvi owns Arrow now. Event their site looks the same with the same messaging system.

How about somebody there actually finds out why it hasn't shipped yet since they said it should have yesterday? My hunch is it's stuck since the payment issue, and it will possibly stay stuck for who-knows-how-long.

Customer service is shockingly poor these days.

Yes, they are shit. It took almost two weeks to cancel my Silent Running preorder. System wouldn't let me (for no apparent reason), then had to send three messages over 10 days before it was cancelled on day 12 or 13. Nobody told me when it was finally cancelled either. I'll only order direct again when there's a site exclusive or a great deal.
