I bet smacking those monsters will get boring after the 400th time.

Limited ammo, weapons that probably break will make things tough too against the enemies.

I'd like enemies to spawn in random places so these games aren't as predictable. So you revisit the building, but sometimes they are in all new rooms. Keep the player on the edge.

Keeping the topic to SH, Christophe Gans stated he felt merely making a reenactment of the game would be pointless. Instead, he wanted to recreate the feeling of the game, hence his focus on atmospherics. It seems Bassett wanted a true adaptation of SH3, but the studio insisted on a direct sequel to the previous movie. Bassett tried to serve two masters (her own instincts and the studios wishes) and it didn't work. However, given how well she did with a similar situation when making Solomon Kane (Bassett wanted a standalone adventure, whereas the studio wanted an origin story), I think with more time she could've cracked it.

As for Return to Silent Hill, Christophe Gans has stated it is an adaptation of SH2, but not as loose as Silent Hill was to SH1.

Thanks. I'll see it in theaters as I have the prior 2. I hope he is able to make it scary. Something missing from SH1 movie. Great visuals though.

To make a movie more scary, I think the main character has to be extremely vulnerable to the enemies. She seemed a little too strong or resourceful, but the games are like that too. Hitting monsters with make-shift weapons and guns with barely any ammo but surviving.

The music can't be too cheerful either. Like the piano themes in the first film took me off guard too often. Good movie overall though for a horror theme based on a game.

Townfall will hopefully be more like a proper game. But there hasn't been any update on that game for ages.

I hope Konami actually makes their own sequel eventually, outside of hiring third party companies to put their take on the franchise.

IGN actually playing it and previewing it looks promising. And based on what he says, it sounds like he likes it more than the Silent Hill 2 remake

Yeah, I watched that review video too. The reviewer said something along the lines that he likes it or he thinks SH f is better than SH2 Remake in many ways, a couple of times. After watching that video, f looks very promising.

I just read this has an emphasis on combat and weapon degradation. While degradation is just another form of ammo conservation I guess, I can’t say I’ve ever played a game where such a feature benefits it.

It's so visually bland, and all because of the camera, which isn't even used for nice combat. I can admit that the combat in the RE4 remake I complained so much about was decent. I know this isn't an action series, but I'm just making the point that the over-the-shoulder camera at least serves a purpose in Resident Evil. No reason to have it here. Scripted cameras are way more cinematic, if that's why they keep using this camera in every game. Or are you gonna tell me that they keep using this camera for combat? Well, in the demo she was only using melee weapons, so what do you even need the modern camera for, the modern cam which was widely adopted for aiming with guns?

https://www.eurogamer.net/silent-hil...e-disingenuous

Quote:
Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto has called comparisons of the upcoming Silent Hill f to soulslike games "disingenuous", insisting "a lot of these things we actually pulled from classic Silent Hill titles".
Quote:
"This is one of the things that we see – the term soulslike – being thrown around on the internet quite a bit," Okamoto said. "And I think it's a label that's a little bit disingenuous. Modern players will see like, oh there's a stamina meter, there's a dodge, and they're like, 'Okay, it's a soulslike'.

"But to be very honest, a lot of these things we actually pulled from classic Silent Hill titles. Look at Silent Hill 4 – there’s a charge meter for your attacks, kind of like our Focus meter. And even for Silent Hill 3 there's a stamina meter. You see it later on."
Quote:
According to IGN's interview, Okamoto "expressed a degree of frustration with the online dialogue surrounding the game".

"These things aren't new and exclusive to soulslike games," he added. "They've been a part of action horror games for a very, very long time. If you have these things you're labelled a soulslike. And we'd like to reiterate we are an action horror game, but we are not a soulslike."

Luckily Silent Hill F won’t be:

“No, Silent Hill f is not a Soulslike game, according to Konami and the developers, despite some initial confusion and online debate sparked by descriptions of its combat system. While it incorporates more focus on action and features elements like a stamina system and dodge mechanics, the developers clarified it is an action-focused psychological horror game, not a genre defined by precise, brutal combat like Dark Soul”

The more I hear about this and how they are describing it, the less enthused I am about it.

This reminds me of the game Siren. Or Fatal Frame. The setting in a small village.

69.99, that's asking too much IMO, so I'll wait it out for a price drop later on. It looks interesting, but more of the same for that price. Maybe it'll be a great horror game.

DF had some hands on with SHf and seem pretty impressed with its performance, being a UE5 game.
