The uhd produced by Disney is too bad. The audio is extremely compressed. I bought soul, raya, bad audio,

Unknown. Disney typically only has IMAX ratio on 3D discs (which are only released abroad these days) and Disney+, but Cameron being involved puts everything up in the air. For all we know, we'll get a BD-100 with IMAX and a North American 3D release, or the same BD-66 with neutered audio as usual.

IMAX version is cropped. Original ratio is 1.85:1.

The Disney movies that have D+ exclusive IMAX ratio were shot with “IMAX-certified” cameras. Those 1.90 scenes were exclusive to IMAX cinemas.
With Avatar the movie is simply as tall as whatever screen it’s shown on. I saw it in scope on scope screens, but also 1.85 on Dolby, IMAX and standard RealD screens. It’s not exclusive so I’m expecting the home video version to be around 16:9 so that it fills the screen up as much as possible. |

Such a gorgeously looking film! When I went to see it in IMAX 3-D, I thought to myself - okay, so what would they show me what I have not already seen. Threee and a half hours later I had to pick my jaw up from the floor... Even HFR scenes were not that distracting (although I hate HFR with all my heart!).
But the story, man... if only Cameron would have invested one-tenth of the creativity he had invested in visuals in the story. So many years in development, and this is what he came up with?! You don't got this, bro... |

I saw the movie in 2.39 and nothing looked overly-cropped or cramped. I suspect Cameron framed the film for scope and the other versions are just opened up on the top and bottom.
