Fingers crossed for 1,90:1 / 1,78:1 AR!

I have zero faith in it having Dolby Vision and being on BD100, though.

If Cameron cares, it will.

Funny that this was announced/leaked before Avatar 1 and Titanic.

The film was nominated for best sound, best vfx, and best picture for Oscar 2023 today. No comments on whether it deserves the nomination for the last category mentioned.

Hopefully there will be a 4K/3D SKU available and not have to purchase separately.

I’d like to see this and am willing to even blind buy this release but won’t do either until the first Avatar is released on 4K UHD. Take my money Disney.

Heh. I’ve been going thru the supplements on Avatar 1 again and it’s ridonkulous how many of them show their respective clips from the movie in 2.39, I would LOVE to have a UHD in that ratio of both it and AWoW. Put a 1.78/1.90 disc in there too, don’t get me wrongo, I’d watch whichever flavour takes my fancy.

I think DV is more likely than a UHD100, if only because of Alita being the only Fox UHD with Dobly, but if anyone can make all of it happen it’s Jimbo.

I'll gladly be getting both Avatar 1 and 2 in UHD. I'm sensing these will have DV/Atmos for the same reason Geoff stated, that Cameron *does* supervise everything in his pictures for home video and by contract he has every say. And we have the precedent of Fox's Alita having DV, a rarity. Will be nice finally owning a Disney release with Dolby Vision, if only it wasn't such a rarity.. Either way, I'll be getting steels for both if I like the design, if not, I'll go with standard amaray. We'll see.

Now, I'm not sure about a BD100, but given that the movie is 3 hours long, it'd strain otherwise, we'd have to see. But BD100 is possible.

Jimmy boy will absolutely make sure this has Dolby Vision.

Wouldn't be surprised if he mandates a BD-100 for Disney, too.

But the former is all but guaranteed.

Please include a 3D Blu-ray in the set. I still have my C6 hooked up.

Seconded. Make it some big bastard box set if need be: UHD (preferably in both ratios), 3D, 2D BD, bonus discs, the lot.

I won't lose sleep if it's just HDR10, but this HAS to be Disney's first UHD100. They barely got away with it for Endgame, since most of the big action is contained to the last hour, so they could keep the bitrate down for a lot of it. That's not the case with this movie, it would fall apart with an average bitrate below 40mbps.

Wishful thinking, but I’d like to see them invent a 3D 4K UHD format and a new wave of 3D TVs just for this film.

Day 1 and hopefully we get a Collector’s edition similar to the first one. It’s such a nice set-aside from the weird disc slider thing.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm verr intrigue to see how it turns out if it's on a UHD66. I've gone to bat for Endgame's encode but had a thought that Heat was gonna be where Disnee's compressionists would come unstuck. Nope, turned out fine.
