I had a feeling you would say that. I don't have a Crunchyroll account yet, but noticed it still says Pre-order when they do in fact have stock, so wonder if I order now if it will ship now or if it will be close to release date.

For what it's worth, I received my BD copy of The Bullet Train yesterday. It was the last order I placed on RightStuf before they were absorbed (RIP).

Anyone watch the new release from Discotek and mention how it looks? I ordered it a few days ago and opened an account on Crunchyroll, but hasn't shipped yet. Very curious to how the final product compares to the Eureka release.

I got the US release yesterday and gave it a quick spin and thought it looked pretty good. Can't compare it to the Eureka as I don't have that, but thought it was a pretty big improvement over The Twilight Time release.

Can anyone else comment on the Discotek version? I like the screencaps posted on here but also interested to know if the presentation looks somewhat digitised like the Eureka.

Really surprised at the lack of comment/interest in this release considering the amount of debate in the pre-order period. Perhaps sales haven’t been too good after the Eureka? Hopefully the site will review and compare to the Eureka.

I'm not sure why it's gotten so quiet, but I felt like the Discotek release looked quiet good overall. Much better than the Twilight Time. Can't really compare it to the Eureka as I don't have that one.

For someone who hasn't seen the film before but interested enough to request the Eureka release as a Christmas present , will my potential enjoyment be impacted that much by the presentation that it isn't worth getting?

Apart from the greenish cast, there seems to be some color instability as well in the screenshots on this site. This shot looks especially bad IMO:

Not at all in my opinion. I didn't see the film before, bought it when it came out and found it to be fantastic. I even thought the transfer looked good. Only after coming on here did I see people mentioning the colour etc.

I noticed that the review of the Discotek release is finally up. Bizarrely, it makes no mention of the colour differences whatsoever, which is supposed to be the main differentiating factor between the two releases, aside from the extras.

I just bought one of the last available of the Discotek fare. Not cheap although there are many of the Eureka variant to be had................I wonder why?
Now, if you appreciated my luck, four days from now the 4K version will be released, complete with a die-cast Shinkansen train and a card signed by Ken Takakura even though he is no longer with us.

Toei are releasing what is presumably this master on Blu-ray in Japan on October 8th, 2025:

The Deluxe Edition will include a bonus disc with the shorter US and French cuts of the film, as well as other extras, but the information would seem to confirm that this is a 4K scan with 2K workflow:

Quote:
【備考】※4Kネガスキャン2Kリマスター

[Notes] *4K negative scan 2K remaster
The film was previously released in Japan in 2015 and 2017, presumably using an older HD master:

So, I guess we'll be waiting a while longer for any 4K UHD release.

Just ordered my Discotek Media blu-ray of Bullet Train from the CrunchyRoll website. Had a 25% code so it came to $11.99. They gouge you on the shipping though.

Thought I would report back that I'm very happy with the Discotek version of The Bullet Train.

Order from Crunchyroll with confidence if you don't already own it: https://store.crunchyroll.com/produc...707035798.html

Neil Lumbard's excellent review perfectly encapsulates my experience watching it, and I look forward to more of Neil's reviews on this site.: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-B...331867/#Review
