I think they just dropped that site...

the idea was to probably have blu-ray.com and hd-dvd.com and whichever one loses gets trashed...

ditching hd-dvd.com is pretty much telling the story since the people who own that site run this one and to my assumption are "in the know"....especially since Wicky knows enough about what is going on...I assume whoever is behind both of these forums would know this as well...

so that would be the right time to ditch the other site since it doesn't make sense to own both at this point..

Actually, recently the site was over run by Blu-fans. The HD DVD regulars that posted there are on a different forum and the Mods banned a load of people, Blu and Red.

It was probably shut down temporarily until it cools down. But then again, after the Toshiba rumor maybe not.

It is kind of sad to see it go. They were nice people over there for the most part.

It would much rather see the AVS/HDD HD-DVD forums bite the dust.

I disagree. After a forum is up for a few years you form bonds with people. It becomes a community. What they should have done is empower some regulars and then let them run it.

How would the 20k+ people here feel if they just closed the forum?

Try it yourself.
It really should re-direct people to this site:

yeah...why have a hd-dvd.com site when there is no more hd-dvd.com?...

why not redirect them here so they can come to a similar place..

I kind of miss that site, with all this great news in the last couple days I want to see what they are saying over there, but I cant really find many people still defending HD-DVD, have they finally been silenced????

I see your point but I doubt anyone here is going to welcome an HD DVD person.

There are just too many people hell-bent on defeating it and its supporters.

I see it happen here more and more, and with general success. Most folks here understand and accept the fact that, as HD DVD ceases to be viable competition for Blu-ray, we'll have an influx of new members, who own HD DVD as a legacy, whose ultimate goal is Hi-def movies, and who are realistic enough to see Blu-ray as their next step.

Defeating HD DVD? You bet, for reasons which have been endlessly discussed. Defeating its supporters? Not in any general or personal way, IMHO. Defeating a very vocal and obnoxious subset of those supporters, who've behaved very badly indeed on various fora, and who spread venom and defy market realities to this very day? Yes, they've made themselves well known and it's unlikely they'll be welcomed by the membership, here.

the people over at hd-dvd.com were not fudders....if they want their movies in high def...then they should come to a blu-ray site...

and since the same person owns both domains, it only makes sense to send them here...

if they want a HD disc...then they want Blu-ray...

Default HD-DVD Forum has shut down it's site

The HD-DVD Forum has shut down it's site. It now directs you to Amazon.com for HD-DVD purchases.

http://www.HD-DVD.com

I think this was the third to last nail in HD-DVD's coffin.

Yeah but to be fair... it's hard to keep a HD-DVD forum going when there's more Blu-ray members on there than HD-DVD ones...
