Haven't played this remaster yet (love the original), but wow. I know some people will disagree with points made here, but that AI up-scaling is truly horrendous.

I think I'm still gonna pick the physical up, but some of that stuff is pretty disappointing. After GTA Trilogy "Definitive", I didn't think anyone would be so bold to carelessly use AI upscaling like that.

What honestly gets me more though, is censorship, I can't stand censorship... What are we doing here? I thought we won this battle when I was growing up. It used to be religious types and out of touch politicians going after games. But who is asking for censorship now?? Its so regressive.

The newest Dragon Age doesn't even have blood splatter for s*** sake, while Origins was bathed in blood (its supposed to be dark-fantasy, but whatever).

Off soap box, sorry

As a big fan of Dead Rising 1 and having just played through the original and then playing through the remake, the remake improves on some things, like graphics and controls, but then takes a big step backwards for other things, like hit detection being a bigger issue IMO with certain weapons, and a severe increase in cheap hits now from zombies.

I'd say other than the graphics and control layout/mapping, the game is a step backwards slightly. Still fun to be had, but I recommend the original game over the remake.

The remake remaster doesn't even offer a free roam sandbox mode at the start, and you have to complete both the first game and 2nd extended story game to even unlock it. Usually a remastered mode should offer more features/modes.

The aiming is much better in the new game though.
The baseball bat is worse in the new game as when you're swinging the bat back to get ready to hit a zombie on its way, before you are even within range, the zombies now leap and instantly are biting Frank West, which is dumb because that does not happen in the original classic DR.

For an M rated game, I also don't understand the censoring of the woman zombie's outfit. Seems like they're just trying to appease those easily offended by it.

Original game: 8/10
Remaster: 7/10

The fact that Dead Rising 1 was so outrageously funny and silly and gory was part of the fun. Bear in mind....the European version of DR1 was censored too on the 360. I think a T-shirt that had boobies on it was censored. Because, my god, can't have boobies in a game for adults. Boobies are the worst. But that was one little thing. But in this remaster, they basically censored everything. Like...literally....EVERYTHING. But it's not just the censorship, that is not even the worst part. The worst part is that they messed up pretty much everything else too. It's apparently way too easy now to kill the psychos. Couldn't they just add several difficulty levels instead of making it way too easy for everyone? I mean, I get that not every game needs to be Dark Souls. But this is just silly.

and...NEW RELEASRS. Awesome. Thank goodness for the PS4 version of the original (no idea if the shirt I mentioned above is in that).

Do you happen to recall where it's located in the game? I have the U.S. PS4 release, so I could check if you remember the location.

in the shop "in the closet" you'll find the shirt and apparently, there's also a censored painting in the store "casual gals". The PS4 version is also censored in the US. The US 360 version is uncensored.

Playing the original for the first time. (Screw remake culture.) I don't care for it. The gigantic mall is too samey and everything has been done better in other games.

Dead Rising Remaster finally added a "Casual easy mode". It is much easier as in Overtime mode, which is merciless with the extremely cheap armed armored guards everywhere, I was able to survive without having to restart from the last check point. It's still tough but they die faster and your health sustains longer.

Completed the game as I kept putting off getting all the ingredients in Overtime mode normal. I now remember I only completed the FULL Dead Rising 1 only 1 time. The other times were just completing the main story.

This is one of those games that doesn't know when to just end. It keeps going.

Infinity mode, it's good as there is no timer, except for the timer of your health bar trickling down every 2 minutes by 1 bar. So trade in the timer of the clock missions for a timer for your health now.

I'm just going to replay the save points where I have most of the mall opened up and hardly any zombies roaming around and then just play that for free roam.

I replayed some of Dead Rising PS4 on PS5 and that game still looks great and I prefer it over the remaster. With the exception of easy mode added now in Remaster.
