The problem with Panic Room isn't so much the neg cut but Fincher's liking for Frankensteining together a shot from several different takes, you can't just scan a cut neg for x scene and move on, you've then got to put the shot back together again. Not impossible, just more work than a conventional 4K rebuild off a conformed neg. But they did at least build all of those rolls for scanning back when they made the movie, as scanning was so expensive at that time they still did a neg cut of the stuff they wanted instead of just sending off a whole reel at a time.

I was mainly referring to the standard Blu-ray including the movie in the first place as opposed to being a glorified special features disc, not the same disc reusing the transfer used for the 2002 & 2004 DVD releases.

The press release says the Blu-ray is from the 4K master, with an additional disc for extras.
