2.0 is harsh. Sure it's not academy award material but it's entertaining, has beautiful cinematography, and it's decently acted. I watch this a couple of times a year (along with Grizzly) and am very satisfied

I rewatch the piss out of Grizzly. Hilariously bad kill footage. It’s a blast. A supremely hammy homage to Jaws, and essentially a great animal slasher, with amusing characters, 100% pure practical effects, gorgeous scenery, even a Vietnam-era bazooka. I love that nothing is sacred, nothing is off-limits, and everyone and every thing is disposable fodder. Even little bairns get ripped limb-from-limb. It’s the purest form of popcorn blockbuster. Leave your critiquing skills at the door, and just have fun. Prophecy tries to delve deeper and bring message and meaning to the party with bigger eco-drama, but it’s ultimately much the same.

I believe someone was commenting a couple years back that all the better elements for Grizzly were lost or destroyed, or badly deteriorated, making a uhd release improbable or impossible? Can’t remember.

Not sure about the elements (would seriously suck if true) but any movie that has a gorgeous woman (ranger no less) taking a shower in the woods while searching for a prehistoric killing machine grizzly, a horse that gets decapitated, a bunch of drunk hunters using a bear cub as bait (now there's a brilliant idea), and Christopher George and his square jaw playing a tough guy has got to be seen (over and over) to be believed. Oh, and it's version of the USS Indianapolis monologue.....special

Anyone listened to the commentary yet? Is it worth purchasing for that?

I'm not a big commentary guy so can't help you but as far as this being "worth purchasing", I'd like to think a nice uptick in PQ is reason enough? It's the reason I buy these things, anyway

Do you find these bland, mostly interchangeable talking head "historians" mostly reading IMDB credits off their phone interesting? Because that's what you get here, as is usually the case with any Kino Lorber release (the good ones at it you can count on one hand: Tim Lucas, Kim Newman...that's about it for me).

Critic commentaries are absolutely hit or miss, but I've still heard a lot of good ones over the last handful of years. Just listened to a good one on Dressed to Kill.

Tim Lucas and Kim Newman are great. Kim especially. I find his enthusiasm, knowledge and energy so entertaining. Sometimes moreso than the actual movie.

Tom Weaver is quite good to.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will give this double dip a miss. I love this hokey movie as a total guilty pleasure. I was the right age as a kid for it to scare me. Especially the fog covered crossing of the river. Now seeing the actress battle a puppet baby deformed bear clearly just thrashing it around herself in the water is all levels of awesomeness.

No, that's all kinds of rubbish. It happened! The threat is real!

Of course it was real! Talia Shire had to have reconstructive carotid artery surgery after that scene. Somehow she survived to film Rocky II.

It's ok if you like to hear someone babble on about old reviews or every other film that the actors played in. I would have preferred hearing from someone whose connected with the film. I don't think it's worth buying just for that.

Mutant Manbearpig playing sling-the-loaded-sleeping-bag, now finally in uhd, is the reason to buy it.
