The workflow in my mind that would lead to ps3 development would the hiring of entire new teams, new programmers, new mappers, new texture artists, new scripters...

Programmers to program new extensions to the engine taking advantage of the ps3 hardware and configuration.

New Mappers to better remap areas to take advantage of specific system restrictions.

New Texture artists to rework the texture artwork, rescript the vmt's perhaps, and keep a consistancy of style with a fixed quality rate, as the pc version textures are scaled back or foward with hardware constraints...

New scriptors to rewrite and enhance current scripts to take advantage of the ps3 hardware and configuration.

Anything short of this would be unacceptable and equal a subpar experience, but that costs much money and finding those people could be quite hard, you can't train someone when you yourself do not have the knowledge.

Just my thoughts of course, have a nice day.
Good idea. Maybe we could convince Fat Bastard that by sending him a letter, courtesy of Blu-ray.com.

Not really it sounds like he's doing that already just hasn't found enough people to create such a team.. there are alot of financial risks involved with my idea and I can't say it has much in payoff..

It would take probably years or half a decade to see anything take fruit from that plan, its easier to find people already qualified then to try train someone...

Ill offer a real life example say I work for a airline and say your a pilot you see my airline pays a little less then another airline but my airline will put you through school and get you certified with that plane type complimentary.

You have us put you through pilot school at our expense of say 20k you get certified and then leave our company and then go to work for the competitor who paid more but would not put you through pilot school...

Does that make sense?

Pretty sure I warned everyone in the last complain to Valve thread about this rudeness. Please keep it civil.

Thankfully I work in the IT department.. and here's a funny fact the map of our facility issued out to every top manager was done in hammer editor version 1.5 made by valve to create half life 1 stages...

Just finished Episode 2. Fantastic stuff! I had no idea the episodes were part of a trilogy, or that the third was due within the year. I figured everything on The Orange Box was all there was to HL2. Episode 3 really gives me something to look forward to. Can't wait to see Alex in next-gen!!

Trying to complete Episode 2; I gotta tell ya, I'm still having good times with the Half-Life 2 series! Episode 2's becoming my favorite so far, but nothing beats the original.

Now, where's that patch from EA? I need trophies, rumble, and a whole lotta fixing on this game. Otherwise.....

I just finished playing Portal (I won HL2 like 2 years ago but didn't get around to playing this one til now) - what a great game!

It totally kept me entertained and the puzzles while challenging never became frustratingly difficult.

I see there was a demo on Source called 'Portal: Who wants a slice?' or something similar. Does anyone know if a sequel is in the works???

Portal 2 was confirmed but its still very early on.

Its supposed to be pretty different. Chell (your character) is not involved, nor Glados from what was said.

i personally dont think its worth buying. since, EA Canada ported it. and, it was a terrible port.

But it says it's a Demo - which implies it's not a finished product and that a full release is in the works - hence my original question.

Portal: First Slice is a demo; it contains the first 10 levels of Portal, and is only available via Steam, plus demoes on Steam are free.

That's odd. The timestamp for the 'demo' was a year higher (more recent) than that for Portal...

Perhaps they were busy with Left 4 Dead?

It was part of some clever marketing by Valve after the release of the full Orange Box. They did a few things where they broke up 'the Box' and sold the games individually at retail. I think the Portal demo is a derivative of that effort.
