I wouldn't pay more than $40.00 AUS ($37.90 US) for a Blu-ray disc reguardless of if it came out the same day as the theatre release.

it probably wouldn't be released the same day because it takes around a month to make enough 35mm prints for Cinema and it would take 3 weeks of BD manufacturing to supply enough discs for worldwide distribution, so it would technically never be released same day, things take time my friends

I think everyone who had a favorite movie that was either out or thats been out that was done to top notch blu-ray perfection, as good as it is going to get would bite and pay the price for at least some movie, now im not basing this on its coming out in 3-6mo's

If like transformers you didnt know when it was coming out alot of the people I think would pay a premium for their favorites star wars lotr w/e

Why would I spent 100$ on a movie I can see the the theater for 9$ and buy for 20-30$ a few months later? People like blowing money..

Ummmmm, well ... while my answer is no, I'm paying £22 for some new BD titles which is getting close to $50 US. So 2 copies of a new title would roll in at just under the $100 mark.

But no. I love the cinema experience. That screen is waaaaaaaaay bigger than anything I'll ever squeeze into my flat. I wish they'd fix that damn broken sub in screen 1 at the Putney Odeon though and install digital projectors! That cinema is truly atrocious, but at £20 (yes, $40) a ticket to go to the Odeon in town, I'll stick with my £8.50 and broken sub at the local.

i'd pay around $30 maybe but from what i'm hearing is that due piracy release dates for movies after theatrical release are getting shorter and shorter and might get down to 1 week (from Paramount spokesperson talking to a radio PR guy at a screening of Iron Man last week)

For one thing, you don't have to see it with a bunch of retards in a theater. I think it's pricey, too, but I'm just saying the ability to watch a new movie in your home (if you have a decent HT setup) is worth something, just not $100.

Personally, I would never pay more than $20 for a blu-ray. Theres no movie I can't wait for enough to spend that kind of money. The most I spent on blu was LOST for 39.99 :P

Plus. it absolutely PAINS man to pay a certain price one day and 3 months later see it in BOGO or for 11 bucks.

I have a 61" 1080p DLP TV and a 7.1 HD Compatible Reciever with a 12" Subwoofer...Now Having said that I still love going to the movies. If I had $100 bucks allocated to just one movie I would go watch the movie in the theatres 7 times and then buy the blu ray

I think a better question would be:

If there was a giant BLU-RAY factory where they upgraded ANY movie you wanted to Blu-ray (consistent PQ and AQ) but only upon request, no duplicates or mass productions. THEN would you pay 100$ for a movie that is opening in theaters or an old favorite not currently released.

Still no for me but dinner for thought

Nope. We complain about paying $9 to $15 for a ticket so I don't think most of us would pay $100 dollars for the BR.
