Watchmen better be on time! What better date than 3/6/9 can there be for this?

I am always quite skeptical when it comes to comic book/graphic novel movies.
The thing is that you already have a deeper mindset on the characters and the looks of it all, because there are pictures of everything involved. Reading a regular book/novel or a masterpiece like Lord of the Rings, will be a very hard accomplishment to film, because every single reader has the characters looks in their minds and need to pleased. However this somewhat gives the production of the movie more leeway since it is just someone else's interpretation.

Now with comic book movies, director's have to stick even more to the source material, because of all the die hard fans. A lot of the recent adaptations were quite bad, so usually I do not expect much to begin with.

Watchmen was supposed to be done and Terry Gilliam attached to it at some point, but thought the movie to be unfilmable!

Sure, the "teaser" trailer cannot show much about the story itself, so they decided to put a few bits of the very f/x and cgi laden Zack Snyder version of the film, because this is what sells movies nowadays, unfortunately!

To all people who think the trailer looks awful and did not read the novel, I can tell you that this is not the typical comic book superhero material that has been breaking records at the box offices over the past few years.
This is more of a thriller, with some "superheroes" being involved.

I for one cannot wait to see this and will sign any petition that will bring it out on release date!

Just my 2c...

if warner will hold up the agreement and pony up the dough then we should see this on its expected release date. if warner want to be dicks about it then we won't.

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed Constantine? I thought it was a fun watch and wouldn't mind a sequel.

I liked Constantine a lot and would love to see a sequel. But I think WB was expecting Constantine to be another Matrix level hit which it wasn't.

Default Alan Moore Happy About Watchmen Lawsuit

A few more comments from Alan Moore on what's been going on:

Quote:
"There are these legal problems now, which I find wonderfully ironic," Moore told The Los Angeles Times, apparently gleeful at the notion that the film will never come out. "Perhaps it's been cursed from afar, from England. And I can tell you that I will also be spitting venom all over it for months to come."
Quote:
"It is as if we are freshly hatched birds looking up with our mouths open waiting for Hollywood to feed us more regurgitated worms. The Watchmen film sounds like more regurgitated worms. I for one am sick of worms. Can't we get something else? Perhaps some takeout? Even Chinese worms would be a nice change."

Its projected release date is 2010, and supposedly they're using Keanu and Weisz again

the fans of the comic hate that its keanu though, they want sean bean because he matches the character more (rather have keanu tho)

When i first saw his picture I said to myself "Yup...that's about right" lol. Only Watchmen could come from someone like that.

As far as him stating in the article that he could never see Watchmen as a movie, I kinda agree. I mean I'm still gonna go see it, but seriously think about it. Will mainstream audiences actually like the story and ending? I dunno....the ending is just absurd(in a good way). I heard rumors that they changed the ending or something?

We'll see what happens if this movie will come out on time...people will either love it or hate it.

I'm a fan of the comic, and I don't hate Keanu.

I'd rather have him than the guy that threw up in Ronin because he couldn't handle a gunfight.

Some people might think Alan Moore is being a dick but he is not. Alan is a very intelligent and passionate man about his work. He also does not take himself to seriously. In his documentary about his life and work he made it very clear he is not a celebrity, and he doesnt buy into that. His only issue with WatchMen is he doesn't feel it would translate to film and he has never changed his view on this point. We as fans of his work may not like that but we must respect it.
Doesn't seem like that at all to me.That's all true about Alan Moore. If anything they are being respectful to his comments. I can't speak for other fans but I also wish his comments were more positive, but I do respect what he says cause It's his original work.

"Some people may think he is being a dick but he his not"

That to me is telling me what to think of someone who's being a dick.

"We may not like it but we must respect it"

MUST? Sorry, I don't HAVE to respect anyone especially if they're being semi-unreasonable. I mean honestly, you don't like film? cool, that's your stance whatever, BUT, even Alan Moore must see from what we've been shown thus far that this is likely the best Comic to Movie flick thus far. Or at least if it doesn't hold true to the EXACT storyline of the comic, it looks pretty damn close to it's source material.

In no way is the writer saying "hey don't think he is a dick" he is saying HE HIMSELF doesn't think that.

Well I respect it because he created the Watchmen. His isn't being unreasonable. He has had terrible experiences with his other adaptations and just refuses to ever go near them (seriously League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?). He never said he didn't like film at all in that article, just doesn't like his. I agree that this movie will be very close to it's source material even frame by fame and as stubborn and kinda coockoo Alan Moore is...well...it's his creation so he has a right to an opinion about it.

If by the grace of god he decides to lift his ban and watch a trailer or even the movie...I hope he likes it and get as excited as we are...but who knows.

Not to derail the thread too far, but I'm going to update my man Logan on the goings on of Constantine 2

Keanu Reeves Says No to Constantine 2, All Other Sequels

Director Francis Lawrence Updates Constantine 2

I also would LOVE to see a sequel. And think it will happen eventually.
