I'm having this EXACT same problem. I put my copy in and it wouldn't load so I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for another copy, took it home and it did the same thing. Disc 2 worked fine for both copies. My cousin bought his and his PS3 loaded it just fine, no problems. We both have 60gb PS3's. Are some copies just defective maybe?

Bring your defective discs to Best Buy and test it out on a BD player that is not connected to the internet. See if it plays.

If it does, then the disc is not defective. It's just that the PS3 was DOWNLOADING BD-Live content for Transformers. Until it has finished downloading it, assuming that you enabled BD-Live content auto-download, it won't play. The Paramount servers may be overwhelmed with downloads. Ultimately, check your settings.

I doubt your disk is defecive, you likely need to upgrade the firmware of your player to at least Profile 1.1 to watch the flick.

I only have Transformers on the HD-DVD version right now. It took about 2mins to load on the 360 HD-DVD Drive. Well worth the wait. (I know I choose the wrong side when the war started, but now got a Samsung BD-UP5000 to watch both).

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the two versions? TF is a great movie, but not worth worth getting a second copy of Blue Ray to have two hi-def version of the same movie.....

Suggestion considering your HD DVD player will likely die some day and along with it the use of your discs: buy the BD, send in the proof of purchase tab to Paramount for their 10.00 current owner rebate; sell the HD DVD on ebay for another 10.00 and the BD almost pays for itself.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing. Just testing it at Best Buy. I don't think it's downloading BD-Live content because the disc won't even show up on the XMB. It just won't load. I have 24 other Blu-ray movies and the all work fine. I know it's not my system. It has the latest firmware as well. The first copy I had wouldn't show up on the XMB either, but if I enabled Disc Auto-Load, it would work just fine. After it would play I could quit playback and it would be on the XMB it just wouldn't play without Auto-Load. So I exchanged it for a second copy and this copy won't load with Auto -Load or anything. Very strange.

Did you have the internet connection on the PS3 enabled?

Do you have to have your PS3 hooked up to the internet to play any BD-Live disk?? Can you not just play the movie without any of the Live features?? I do not have my PS3 hooked up to the internet (having problems with my modem and router). If that is the case, I shouldn't even bother purchasing future releases like Iron Man, because I won't be able to play them.....

First time it took about 3 minutes to load on my 40gb PS3. Second time it took about 15 to 25 seconds to get the main menu. I guess the disc configured the player for future use.

United Kingdom Its caused by BD Live

i did some of the suggestions posted on this forum. however, none got my blu ray to load.
I did the following:
Settings
Video Settings
BD Internet Connection - changed it from "allow" to "Confirm"
clicked play on the transformers disc 1.
a screen comes up asking for confirmation for the disc to connect with BD live.
SAY NO.

Disc plays fine afterwards and loads instantly.

Hope this helps the others lost like i was!

P.s
i have an old 60gb PS3. This is the first slight set back I have ever had! 5minutes and it was sorted!

I love PS3!
