Just got my PS3, a second sixaxe, a remote controle, have already 13 BD's, BUT I do not find the component cable for the ps3.
Will I have to spend my first day of PS3 with composite?????

Have to work for another 2 hours and than rush home and install.

tomorrow, look for the component cable.

I entered the Blu-ray society....

In the two shops I went to buy what I already have, There was very little sign of Blu-ray.
The first one, I bought 10 BD's over the time period of weeks I had to wait. But today, there where no new discs. Only the Sony releases.

In the second shop, a non specialised shop, they had not even 1 BD in stock.

Retailers have to awake... the ps3 is out and we want to buy BD's...

If you can find the PS2 Multi-Out Component cables, get that. It will work.

Where are the rest of the Aussie/Kiwi PS3 owners? Are they so busy playing with their new toy? Huh? Huh? Huh?

I ask the owners of PS3s in other regions to be online on these exciting but potentially frustrating times to provide emotional AND tech support for new PS3 owners in the EU, Oz and Kiwiland. This is the time for you to give back!

Well, I just got back from university after a very long and boring day.

I got to work at 10:45, the police were there and gave us and the Virgin Megastore guys a briefing on what to do if there is crowd trouble (basically run into the store and put the shutters down, then wait for them to sort it out). Luckily launch night went off without a hitch for us, we sold 57 PS3s before closing time and apparently the rest were gone by 10am this morning. That meant no PS3 for me, I believe many HMVs around the country were sold out, we got reports from other Welsh HMVs (my boss is the regional manager for Wales) and Bristol, many of them were sold out due to lack of stock in the area. Cardiff as a city had some PS3s left as many stores did not do a midnight event, but they are all expected to be sold by the end of the day.

By 6:00pm Sony should have sold around 190,000 PS3s, with the rest going on pre-order to be picked up tomorrow.

Today also marked the launch of PS3 where I live.

The Sony distributor here managed to get enough consoles to satisfy every store's pre-order, while still providing 4-5 each for window sale.

Unfortunately, and this is risible at least, he failed to remember to order ANY games from Sony and other distributors.... leaving an entire region of Portugal with machines and NO SOFTWARE for at least another week.

Most people now have a 600 euros paper weight at home...

*Sigh* wanted my MotorStorm so badly :-(

I'm more impressed with the PS3 then I thought i'd be.

I'm using the browser to write this post.. the graphics are stunning and any compatibility worrys I had are out the window.

I have MotorStorm and Resistance and I have been astonished by the graphics of both games.

On the Blu-Ray side of things.. I just watched Open Season and I am assured all the money I have spent on BR's is worth it, the PQ was awesome!
Though, I flicked thru the departed and wasnt very impressed.

To sum up, It's sleek and sexy.. works like a dream and is gonna be my baby for the next ten years

My PS3 online I.D had to be changed to Shane_CFC_2007 so if anyone wants a game or what ever add me.

juha so sorry to hear that. Can't you import something from Spain next day air? At least feed the paperweight with some DVD or CD to see it working, Maybe even find some SACD.

Fortunately some stores started receiving *some* games late last night and this morning... I was able to pick up Resistance and MotorStorm straight out of a box! Got home and its been heaven since....

... MotorStorm rules online. Total Mayhem.

Look for TufasPT on English servers

YEY!! *dances*

Got it!

Friday lunchtime a van pulled up and delivered a (larger than expected) blue plastic bag, inside was the best box in the world.

Shiny! Big! Heavy! Gorgeous! Just a few of the words that went through my mind as I gently eased it out of its box.

Didn't take long to get hooked up to my LCD and then I fired it up. Niiiiiiice. I won't get tired of that orchestra sound anytime soon.

So, games, well as I said before I downloaded the demo's of a few games and went out and bought Motorstorm. What a game! Soundtrack is superb, the visuals are unbelievable and the gameplay is spot on.

I've loaded some CD's, videos, photo's, set up log ins for the rest of the family and browsed the web - but the coolest thing I've done this weekend was to load a video of Lost to my PS3, then watch it in my bedroom via my PSP!! Which made me wonder; is it possible to play games in the same way, using the PSP as a screen and the sixaxis to play? I'll find out tomorrow.

Casino Royale was razor sharp but the biggest thing to strike me about the whole HD thing is the sound. Whether it's the engines and music from Motorstorm or the sound from Casino - it just sounded amazing!

£425? Worth every penny. What an amazing piece of kit.

ABC-Warrior; add me if you like, I currently have no buddies, and only have Motorstorm for now. I have tomorrow off work so will be available on and off throughout the day.

Ciao. This Is Living!

If it was physically possible to hump a piece of software, I would hump the PS3 XMB.

It's not until it's there in front of you, begging to be fiddled with that you fully appreciate its beauty, responsiveness, speed and intelligence of layout. Once I've got my Mac I'll be in quality-OS heaven.
